View Full Version : What makes for the perfect Fixx show?

Hello, http://www.thefixx.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
Sure has been quiet around here lately, feels like the calm before the storm though. Anyway, I noticed most of the shows scheduled so far are at festival settings. Thats probably great for alot of people, but personally, Ive always liked smaller club gigs better. I saw the boys at a small bar called the Rainforest Preserve in Utica NY July 97' and to me that gig was the epitomy of what is a perfect Fixx show. The kinda place where you could plant yourself right up front early, you can also grab a bar-stool for your girl and be friendly with her from behind all night long (get the lewd act outta your mind pervert, Im talking about the romantic "aint this great being here honey" concert hugging kinda stuff, the lewdness doesnt start til we get home), where the bar is only a few steps away so your gopher single buddy whos trolling wont have to far to go with your money (hey if Im front and center thats it, im not going anywhere the whole show), Ive also learned with age how to get buzzed right without getting trashed and stupid (that took awhile in my case), where the sound is not too loud, where theres no jerks within a half dozen shoulders distance, and afterwards of course you get to chat with the boys. Ive been to 8 Fixx shows and the Utica gig was the only one I would personally call a perfect show, not talking about just the band, which is always great in my opinion, but about the all-around vibe as well.

Fresh air, sunshine and outdoor gigs are fine but give me the smoky club thats bending at the walls round midnight, up close and personal ya know.

So seeing how the new tour is almost upon us, and of course all the shows are gonna be great right?, I was wondering what makes for, or already has made for, a perfect Fixx show for ya. Are you easy to please, or do some things have to be a certain way?

The perfect gig would be half way between my place and Octo's! So we don't have to travel 8 hours to see them. That would be Syracuse, or gulp the turning stone casino where every "older" musical act seems to be playing... the vegas style parlors.... Yikes Maybe Tony Bennett but not 80's alt-old school wave- bands!

D, ya anyplace NW of Poughkeepsie to Plattsburgh or Buffalo would seem perfect now wouldnt it? they havent been upstate in 4 years.

ps The game sounds cool but I gotta tell ya I absolutely dread Utica.

It takes real fans in the audience and not a lot of people sitting in the best seats that got free tickets because of some kind of sponsorship who probably don't even know Fixx music other than what they have heard on "pop" radio. A smaller club is great because you can really get close to the band and other fans, no chairs in the way! Kat
