You know,I've never really been a big fan of the "do-it-yourself" approach? I'm a people person, you see,and I especially enjoy the company of women(cyberspatially,or otherwise). Teaming up with them is a very satisfying enterprise extending to a variety of disparate options, historically resulting in many wonderful climatical scenarioes forthwith. Therefore,in a relative situation like this,I confidently feel a woman's touch is without substitute, and can really come in handy;wouldn't you agree?

Why are you laughing at my cherries?...surely,this is a rhetorical question, non, mon cheri? ;)

You saw the film:"The Witches Of Eastwick",right?...and was titillated by the delicious irony of my reference,yes?...whisper yes, madame.

A reassured sense of "female ubiquity" in the volatile life of this Taurus has a most calming effect, indeed. Your efforts have "hardly" proved "half-cocked",I can assure YOU. ;)

Your last couple of lines were very poetic, and I liked the "desert motif".I've been preoccupied with the "desert as metaphor" lately. One of my favourite books is Paul Bowles classic 1949 novel:"The Sheltering Sky",and I loved the Bertolucci film adaptation, especially the breathtaking desert cinematography.

I wrote this poem several weeks ago, featuring a direct "desert metaphor".

Dream Desert Song

This moon so luminous sets upon a dune
And night is replete with constellations
There is an Arabian song beneath the desert breeze
Yet she is not far away.

Haunted by some whispered beauty
Above my silent and sleepy mind
This night calls again to me from beyond
Where eyes can reflect within.

Desire,like home,I've fought so long
To crawl away for a second's respite
Only to advance once more eternal
With details beyond the ken.

This sand so abstract and timeless
Rolls under my thoughts with
Words that have never rubbed together
I hear their new conversations.

In the arid folds a monad keeps vigil
Always within this hushed womb
A comfort, like the smell of old books
A time not time,before and after:the song.

And it sang a mystery never solved
And it called forth in a couplet deciphered:
"In the leisure of this tragic story
Lies a fissure of some magic glory."

There is something to this nothing...

I'm glad you liked the poem. There's plenty more where that came from. I've actually got two independantly published chap-books of poetry to my credit, and am currently working on a manuscript to be officially published, hopefully by this Fall.

That was lovely... I hadn't thought of sharing my writings until I started reading some of the wonderful poetry/prose that people have shared here. "desert as metaphor"...it lends itself to an entire new world of images...I'm a midwest girl at heart so the blazing sun and the lack of real seasons has been at times enlightening as well as disheartening. I used to write of the aurora borealis...having seen some of the most amazing displays short of being directly beneath her in the far north. I'll share...

Have You Seen Her?

My northern sky...
she lies but restless, not dormant.
Her eyes heavy with prolonged dusk -
searching for the comfort of starry darkeness.
Head cradled in empty grey
as brother moon hangs heavy
burning crimson brefore rising full
shards of light, tenticles outstretched
kissing
my lids and lashes!
(heavenly locomotion so close)
butterfly kisses
Look up!
Feel her omnipresent embrace
of illumination...
For you and I under one
shade of universe
and her...
...Aurora.

Right back atcha,Flux...that too was very lovely.

"Ya gots talents,kid!"-...and the right kind of sensibility:i.e.-poetic.

"Have you seen her?"- I finally got a chance to see the majesty that is the "Aurora Borealis" about 4 months ago when I visited my family in Edmonton,Alberta. It was late evening,in early November, and it was directly above me doing it's "ethereal rhythms".I stood there, just outside of my parent's house, for about a half hour mesmerized by it. What an incredibly beautiful sight to behold, indeed.

Favourite lines:"Head cradled in empty grey...",and "For you and I under one/shade of universe/and her.../...Aurora."- lovely stuff. :)

My how the gears have shifted, egregiously,on this thread!

We seem to be in an "afterglow",following so much innuendo. :D

I suppose it's ironic,in my case, particularly, given the original, facetious spirit behind starting the thread in the first place! Because this is my 200th post! Apparently,I no longer "rock best"!
