Hi all,

Sounds like a few of you (Flow? Dr. Roger?) are planning on attending these shows...anyone else out there going? My friend and I will be making the trip out from here in Syracuse and would like to meet as many Fixxtures as possible while we're out there (this may be our only trip out west for awhile). Anyone fancy a meetup?

We're staying at the venue Thursday-Saturday nights, and are planning to see if we can see the soundcheck (unless they close it off) and the shows later. I'm hoping they start up the meet and greets again as I've been regaling my friend with stories of meeting the guys and made him curious :)

So let's hear who's going!

Deborah and I are IN!. I believe the good Doctor is planning on attending as well. Didn't he say that in another thread?

I can only go to one show though. It will be whichever show Pippi is going to. Don't want to miss out on seeing Pippi as she's been out of state for sooooo long :D

So, who else is in??

Remember the old saying: "The Doctor Is In " ???

The FIXX, Steve, Deb, Flow, KevLeeb, Andy, Carrie, many others, AND PIPPI??? How can I NOT Go? hahahaha...

See you there Steve with bells on !

I'm definitely going, in fact I'm moving to Las Vegas this weekend. I was wondering though, does anybody know if we have to call ahead and reserve seats? Or can we just show up? I wasn't sure since it's a free show. I'll be there both nights for sure though. :)

SO wanted to go to the Vegas shows (at least one of them) and were going to use Mark's soon to expire Skymiles... but we waited around too long and now it's all too expensive. Plus rooms at that Green Valley Ranch are $$$ too! (anyone see the show on Discovery a couple years ago about that place?)
Really bummed that their big tour was canceled due to Everest :(
So everyone have fun and think of us missing it all. Send me pics!

Sorry to hear you can't go, Shelley! Maybe things will work out better for Cy's solo tour early next year. That's going to be the tough one for me...if I get a job by then, it'll probably be difficult or impossible to get away, given that I'd be just starting.

We'll have a laptop along for the Henderson trip, so hopefully I can post "as it happens" :p Looking forward to meeting the folks who are going in a few days!

hi all ! Sorry for all of you that can't make it this time , maybe next time ? I finally convinced my fiance to go with me . We will be arriving Friday at about 4pm and will be leaving about noon on Sunday. We are both very excited about meeting some fellow Fixxtures as well as seeing two shows ! yes, I do remember the show about the Green Valley Ranch , I used to watch it all the time.Sadly one of the main employees/characters passed unexpectedly and the show ended soon after (at least this is how I remember it). Anyhow , beer is on me! Brad

AWWWW Man..... You are all making me jealous. I really wanted to go too as it will probably be the last time I would have seen the band and Fixxtures before I join Mike in Oz! So it just was not in the cards... but I expect a full report, Pippi! Have Fun!! :)

Carrie!
I'll be waiting for up to the minute updates on the show and other goings-on! I'm so jealous. I just told Mark that so many peeps are going and he said "let's go!"... what a tease. It's like $600 per person roundtrip now, so doesn't look good... :(
Well, you all have fun and I'll be expecting pictures galore. Have a couple drinks for me! :)
(oh, about the show on the Green Valley Ranch... yeah the one guy that was the manager or something like that died of an overdose... but I think it did come back on for another season after that... I saw the one guy with the "ultra-lounge" in his hotel room the last time I was in Vegas! he was hanging with some women in the Hard Rock casino!)
Have fun (but not too much without me!)

Yep, we'll be there. Heck, it's not too far down the street....

fyi, there are lots of nice places to eat in the immediate vicinity of the casino: P.F. chang's, Elephant Bar, Cheeeesecake Factory, Lucille's BBQ (my fave). Also Fado Irish Pub in the casino. There is also a whole area for shopping (mainly window shopping, you'll see what i mean), an REI store and a movie theater. ok, jsyk....

Hi All !

Looking forward to the Henderson shows !!

I just found out that I'll be coming alone as my friend Dennis can't get out of work. I'll now be flying in on Friday instead of driving there. I am going to a convention on Monday and Tuesday in Vegas so it works out great. The convention is called the Fair Show, with talent buyers from across the USA there shopping for musical acts to book for the coming year. I'm actually working with my friend Tony Lopez who is the manager for Pat Travers. Although we'll hit the floor selling Pat Travers, I'm hoping to slip in some Fixx CD's and try to talk the Fixx up as well. I'm told that the buyers from santa Cruz Boarkwalk, the OC fairgrounds, and many other large venues will be there. So if you ever wanted to see me in a SUIT, come say hello! Wish me luck.....

Very much looking forward to seeing/meeting everyone , it's been way too long!

FOUR more days.....

I just learned that the Fixx's reps will be there at the same convention selling The Fixx, so we can leave that to the professionals! I'm not qualified to it anyway, just a thought.

It will be refreshing to see how these things work, the booking and selling of musical acts. It's very interesting to me for some reason.

Anyway, my attention goes back to FRIDAY NIGHT BABY !!!! See you by the pool or bar at around 3 p.m. !!

Mmmm, thanks for the suggestions! Do you know if there's a grocery store in either walking or a short driving distance from the hotel? We're looking for a more inexpensive alternative to the hotel gift shops to stock up on all the stuff they won't let us bring on the plane

hi again all !! I found out the concert is "first come, first served" so no tix are required , sit wherever feels right! The closest grocery store i can think of is to go north across the highway that runs by the casino. Go a few blocks down the street and there should be a shopping plaza to your right.

One place for cheap souveniers is on the Strip (if you plan to visit it). It is a whole complex of shops that advertise themselves as the biggest souvenier shop. On Sahara and LV Blvd.

don't know if i can make it to meet ya'll at the bar/pool on Friday b/c we'll be doing Tgiving late. anyways, who knows?

Anyone have any suggestions for when to show up to find decent seats at the concert?

Carrie

Thanks again for the info, Asuka! We're going to try to hang around most of the afternoon, seeing if there's a soundcheck we can watch, keeping our eyes out for arriving Fixxtures, etc.!

Brad, I'm glad Cindy's excited...I'm sure she'll enjoy the experience if she's looking forward to it already! How nice she can share it with you!

This'll probably be my last post till we get out there...watch this and my MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/fixxfancarrie) for up-to-the-minute reports on the goings-on (well, I may be on late tonight to see if there's any word on the Phoenix set list...though maybe I shouldn't spoil the surprise)!

Eat some turkey for us, folks - who knows what we'll find in the airport tomorrow! :p

We're heeeere!

Had a pretty good couple of flights yesterday...saw a Red Sky sunrise in Philly and even got to share a Thanksgiving turkey sandwich on the plane to Vegas! That flight was delayed because of an intercom glitch, but we were only a half an hour late. Dan managed to keep me away from the slot machines in the airport, we picked up our rental car, and were off. We were a little confused as to the exit number we were supposed to get off at, but I knew we were in the right place when I saw this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/betera/theFixx112307/DSCF0130.jpg

HOW AWESOME!!! I nealy hyperventilated with excitement! I hope the boys see this when they arrive! We spent the rest of last night trying not to get lost in the hotel (wow, pretty fancy here!), unpacking, finding another Thanksgiving dinner in one of the hotel restaurants, and taking lots of pics of the Fixx sign!

Speaking of photos, here's the bad news: the sign for the show tonight says no digital photography, so I may not be able to post my usual pics of the guys. Don't know how much this rule is enforced, but I may not want to push my luck. I also don't know if the same rule will apply during the meet and greet, should there be one.

Today we had a "How Much Is Enough"-size breakfast at the pancake house (get in line early!) and did a little shopping and took pics on the Strip. I better be going now...may try to take a swim and then start staking out the venue!

Stay tuned! Carrie

You're welcome, heimo!

The weather's been really nice as far as sunny and very little clouds go, but the wind is a bit cold. Better than 27 at home though!

Saw soundcheck this afternoon with Pippi and her boyfriend- How Much Is Enough and All Is Fair - got a peck on the cheek from Cy, who remembered me!!! Found Dr. Roger soon after and had dinner together. Now we're off to get good seats at the show! :D

You know, it's only when The Fixx are playing 10 minutes away from my house and it's a free show that I completely forget to go. I mean they're only my favorite band to see live. I can't believe it, but I was all caught up with unpacking and I had some errands to run, and before I knew it, it was 10:30 and I realized I had totally forgotten about the show tonight.

Sigh.

I will be there tomorrow night for sure. Was it a good show tonight?

Oh and for those of you staying at Green Valley Ranch, do yourselves a solid and get breakfast tomorrow at the Original Pancake House, it's inside the hotel. It'll be worth your time. :)

Yes, it was! It had a number of songs that I didn't suspect would be played (/thumbs up) and the two new ones were great! The band signed autographs, and even the fact that the place had seats (too few imho) did not stop a lot of folk from getting up to that stage and dancin'!

Carrie
11-24-2007, 11:22 AM
Ugh, that sucks Xaqtly, hope to see you tonight! I hear you on the pancake house - I had coconut pancakes ('cause I'm a coconut :p ) and they were yummy!

Anyway, here's the set list from last night:

Soundcheck
*think there might be one or two here we missed
How Much Is Enough
All Is Fair

Showtime
Deeper
All Is Fair
Life Goes On
One Thing
Are You Satisfied
Secret Separation
How Much Is Enough?
Day Off
Driven Out
Everyone Believes
Stand Or Fall
Woman On A Train
Fatal Shore
Red Skies
-encore-
The Fool
Saved By Zero

I noticed they didn't do Giving Up...maybe they'll switch that one in tonight? We sat with a couple from Calgary, Alberta we met in line, and while Cathie liked the show, she seemed to think Cy was a little bitter that people get much more excited to hear their 80's hits. I said that I thought that he wishes more people would appreciate the work they've done since in the same way, but that I didn't think he was bitter. Hmm. It was a great show - Cy's voice was very strong and Jamie and Adam in particular were on fire. Cy was really looking at and signing to a lot of us in the audience.

We got to meet lots of Fixxtures - Pippi and Rick got us into soundcheck, where we saw the guys and I got a peck on the cheek from Cy, who remembered me and said he sees my face on here all the time (yikes, huh? :p), had dinner with Doctor Roger, met Rhonda at the merchandise table, and met Ed, Andrew, West Coast Carrie, Steve and Deborah and family, and more after the signing! I had my Stage Two DVD signed (Cy made a point to sign on one of the little pics, so the rest of the boys followed suit, and I joked to Cy, "What are you trying to do, make my bad eyesight even worse?" as I tapped on my glasses. Hehehe! Dan and I both got FixxStixx (this show was recorded, and the FixxStixx has a slide presentation of the Buffalo show I went to this summer)! We also got our pic with the boys.

A little later, we went to the Irish pub where we heard the boys would be. Jamie was nice enough to buy us drinks with his voucher! Cy came up to me and said, "I heard you've really been mulling over The World Will Always Turn". So yes, he certainly reads this board! I told him I understand that I need to let go, but have trouble being able to start. He told me not to think of the process having a start or an end, but to spread out into the whole 360 degree surroundings, much like a cat. I told him I'd consult with my girls for lessons! He also said not to approach it solely mentally, but physically as well, and that it may be necessary to withdraw from the noise and confusion of human relations for a bit before stretching out.

Wow. I continue to be so floored by this whole Fixx experience. How many other bands can you go to and get help with the advice their songs give?

I also asked Cy about a yellow tassel he had hanging from a belt loop of his jeans. He said, yes, it was from Nepal, and yes, it has special meaning, but didn't elaborate. Dan joked, "And you're not going to find out, either"! I said, "I didn't ask"! Cy said there was no hassle, just tassel, and that it was his "no hassle tassel". Cute! I noticed that the T-shirt he wore had a sun on it - for the Returning Sun maybe?

Well, that's what I can remember now - more later when I think of it!/after tonight's show!

Edit: Steve P. thought I probably would have been okay to take pics, that lots of people were. So, maybe I'll have some from tonight.

Saw the Vegas show last night, and all I can say is HOLY S#$@ !!!

I've seen only maybe a dozen shows; multiple times in Portland, Seattle, and here in Vegas at a bunch of different venues, and they never fail to impress, naturally.

But last night.... well I'm still stunned. The new material was great, and the "oldies" sounded fresh. I don't know how else to explain it. I was simply in awe and couldn't wipe away the grin on my face. I think I lot of the audience expected 80's new wave (the pre-show music played was a virtual walk-thru of the 80's catalog it seemed), and it took them by surprise how much The Fixx have evolved from the MTV era that a lot of folk remember the band for. Still, the audience warmed to the material and the comments I heard were how surprised people were by the band's sound; the audience was treated to a truly, truly great rock concert.

A big thanks to the band for an incredible evening! I took a friend who's knowledge of the band extended only to "Saved by Zero" and "One thing..." and he was floored. :D

On a side note, sorry I didn't make any contact with other fans; I wasn't sure I could even go until the last minute. I left work at close to 7pm from the opposite side of town, and raced home to change, picked up my friend, and broke a few speed limits to get in at 7:45pm. Whew!

I was driving home from a day with my children. I saw the billboard outside of Green Valley in Henderson, NV and The Fixx doing a free concert. I got there too late for the show last night, but I am definitely tonight. I was able to do a meet up with the band and get autographs and pics on my crappy cell phone. Here I show up, in my raggy play clothes, my hair a mess. ( Tonight, I am dressing up to boot, and getting there early for good seats...Yippee) They were so very nice. I was honest and told the guys I was on my way home from a day with the kids, and saw the sign and wanted to check what was going on and here I am talking to you all and taking pics with you. Holy cow. I am so excited.
The last time I saw The Fixx, I was 13 in Oakland CA for Day On the Green. I saw them with The Police. Cy and Jamie asked..."Do you remember the Paper Plates?" I said "oh yeah, its been so long, I do remember. How funny". Today I look in the gallery and here it is...the Paper plate launching at the 83 show in Oakland...gives me chills. :goodie: :D

I feel like I am reliving my childhood. The Police got back on the road and I got to meet Stewart at an instore in August. What a sweetheart. Now seeing The Fixx and meeting them. Great guys. What a fantastic year this has been.

Thanks to all you dedicated Fixxtures for giving us the detailed up to the minute posts of the shows! I really enjoyed the stories and wish my Fixx encounters were like yours! I needed to hear these happy stories because sadly as it seems all my holidays goes these days, we had a lot of medical problems within our families over this holiday week! Earlier on Saturday, I had to plead with my Grandfather to put my Grandmother in the hospital for a very severe open wound that she has in which may be secondary to congestive heart failure or renal failure and/or her diabetes. After about 1 1/2 hours of convincing, she went to a hospital. I am so angry as the hospital staff is not dealing directly with her wound as of yet and I feel the need to write a nasty letter to the head of the hospital as well as all her own doctors. The primary went away leaving a dopey doctor in charge that did not make it clear that he was the emergency on call doctor, My 2nd cousin on my mom's side had to have a quadruple bypass on Friday( she is only in her early 50's) and is not out of the woods as she has more blockage at the aorta that they could not deal with until her recovery from the 1st open heart surgery.
My gripes can go on forever right now so I will quit my rambling! I am delirious at 3:04 in the morning as I also had troubles with my wordperfect and printer! My daughter's school is having a Heritage Night this week and I became the representative for Ireland. It is a big event and my first time setting up a classroom to make a mini Ireland for the kids to experience, Hoping I will be ready for the big event which happens Friday night. Step dancing, Bagpipes, and Leprechuans but somebody forgot to throw the Luck O' the Irish my way!:(

What a great show! I don't remember the whole playlist, but there were some nice surprises. They did Chase the Fire, How Much Is Enough, and Woman on a Train! How Much is Enough has always been my favorite song from Ink, and Woman on a Train is just one of my all time favorite songs. And honestly I never thought I'd hear Chase the Fire live, that was awesome!

And they did Everyone Believes in Something, and I swear, I don't believe it's possible for them to play that song any more perfectly. Every time I see them play it live, it leaves me stunned. It also makes me wonder how there can be such crap music on the radio all the time when The Fixx is playing music like this. To me, that song comes close to being a perfect song. It's audial euphoria to me, I don't know how else to explain it. I literally get chills listening to it.

Doctor Roger did a nice introduction, that was cool. The whole show was fantastic, I couldn't have asked for more. Cy sounded amazing as usual. I hope the boys continue to tour in the US, because there's nobody currently playing anywhere that I'd rather see.

All I can say is WOW !!!

It was great to meet alot of Fixxtures, new and old. The shows were KILLER, I am still at the GVR until tomorrow, so I'll post in detail Tuesday or Wednesday.

This has to be one of the best weekends I've had in a long time. I only WISH that all reading this forum could have been there as words can't do it justice. Thanks so much to everyone here working the venue and the fellow Fixxtures who ''"rooted me on" and gave me the confidence to do a heartfelt intro and encore. Special thanks to Chad from Jack FM for the glowing intro (HE introduced ME who introduced the Fixx!!! I felt important!) I just hope I did them justice.....

Too much to list now as im in the business office at $ 1.00 per minute for this computer. Thanks to Steve, Deb, Melissa, Kevin, Ed, Ira, Rob, Rhonda, Carrie, Dan, Andrew, Andy, Donna Detriot, Carrie, and so many others who made it fun and special for everyone.

Tons more in a few days.... Much Love,

Dr. Roger

Greetings from Grand Canyon, Arizona! More from today in a few!

Yesterday...I did some shopping and played the slots and won a princely $2.70. I told Cy this later and he said, "oh, feeling up, are you?" with a perplexed look on his face. Better than down! We came back for soundcheck at around the same time as yesterday's, and luckily, found the door open. There was a flurry of activity going on as the hotel employees were putting in a lot of extra seating, so we sat down and stayed quietly out of the way! The boys came out a little later and were playing some Led Zeppelin riffs. Cy even picked up an electric guitar, which was a treat, as I've never heard him play live. He said Good Morning (hehe), so I said Good Morning back. He was lying down on the drum riser warming up his voice, and sounded a little stuffed up (but still wonderful). West Coast Carrie, Andrew, Ed, and a few other Fixxtures joined us, and hang onto your socks, 'cause wait till you hear the set list! Saturday was worth being there for the soundcheck alone!

Chase The Fire
Facing The Wind
Less Cities, More Moving People
A snippet of Shut It Out
All Is Fair

With every song they played, I kept looking at Dan and exclaiming "WOW!!!" louder and louder. I figured they were trying out different songs to change the set list a little, and they probably wouldn't all be played at the show, so was really glad to hear the sound check.

They finished, we went and had dinner, and were the first ones in line at 6:00. Roger stopped by and was bummed to have missed sound check when he heard what they played. Ira was finishing setting up and asked us what we thought of the sound check. We were pretty glowing due to the unusual songs being played, but I think he thought we were talking about the sound itself, because he was surprised we were so glowing (guess that's why you do a sound check)!

We went in shortly before 7:00 and got seats in the front row. I met one of our newest board members here, Shannon (Fixxed07). We had a fun time getting to know one another!

At 8:00 Chad from Jack FM inroduced Doctor Roger, who introduced the guys, and the set list was as follows:

Deeper
All Is Fair
Life Goes On
One Thing
Chase The Fire
Secret Separation
How Much Is Enough
Day Off
Driven Out
Everyone Believes
Stand Or Fall
Woman On A Train
Fatal Shore
Red Skies
-encore-
Facing The Wind
The Fool
Saved By Zero

As I said earlier, this was a show not to be missed because of the unusual set list. It seemed Cy lost his voice a few times early on, though (that has to be awful). It also seemed that he used simpler lyrics for some of the newer songs than he's used in the past (but then, he says they change daily :) )

I took some pics tonight, and hope to have a link to Photobucket soon. I was glad Roger encouraged me to stand up at the stage during Fatal Shore and Red Skies, 'cause I got some good shots then! I was in good company being a Saved By Zero fan that night, as several fans kept yelling for it (and Reach The Beach!) all through the show, and were ecstatic when they played it (guess they're clueless that it's the encore). There was one person who yelled out "You guys are SICK!!!" after Deeper, and Cy said, "Yeah, we really need to see a doctor"! Hehehe! That was funny, but there was one guy who kept yelling out, "Hey Cy Kern!!!" that made me want to stand up and yell "It's CURNIN!!!" at the top of my lungs, but I resisted the urge! Cy threw his yellow egg shaker into the audience at the end - is anyone here the lucky recipient?

I had offered to help sell merchandise earlier, but there were enough people, so I joined Dan in line. We both got FixxStixx again. I had the boys sign my Stage One pics, and gave my Returning Sun CD to Dan to have Cy sign. Little did I know, Dan also had my Fixx Stixx package signed by all the guys, including Cy, who took his image and painted his fingernails black and drew a face on himself with a Sharpie marker! We were serenaded by fans singing Red Skies as we stood in line for pictures. The guys were raising their eyebrows at this!!!

We went to the Irish pub again after the signing, where Dan and I got to chat with Cy about life on the farm, among other things. It was sad when the night came to an end, and I told Cy I hoped I could make the solo tour next year. "You will!" he reassured me, as he seems to about something each time we meet). He hugged me and Dan goodbye (he didn't have to ask me this time)! I also said goodbye to many Fixxtures I got to meet on this trip, hoping we'll be able to do it again sometime.

Today we had one more pass by the pancake house (Swedish with lingonberries this time...mmm!), then checked out and started our drive into the desert. Got some great pics of Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam, and various other scenery while we played lots of songs from Elemental, Walkabout etc. It's amazing, the towns out in the middle of nowhere in the desert! It's a great, wide-open place to do some of the clearing of the mind Cy was talking about!

We got our pass for the park after arriving in town tonight, and tomorrow will visit some sites on the South Rim (the North Rim is closed) before returning to Vegas to fly out Tuesday morning.

Will let you all know if I get my pics together later...if not, hopefully sometime this week!

I gaze at your posts in starry-eyed amazement.

Glad you poured on the detail and the vivid description.

Great reviews of the weekend Carrie! Nice to meet you and Dan as well as catching up with so many Fixxtures!

You left off Less Cities from your second night set list. Unless I imagined it I think they played it somewhere between Stand Or Fall and Red skies?
Cy mentioned someting about travelling this weekend before the intro?

I also remember Jamie adding a really cool riff to it towards the end of the song. Overall the sound quality in the venue was superb!

What can I say.....SOOOOO good to see so many of my dear friends again. I (we) had a WONDERFUL time. Many, many memories I took home with me. :) And a momento or two along the way. Too tired for more at the moment........but, here's my friend, and yours..............Doctor Roger . . .

You know, I was asking Dan last night, "Didn't they play Less Cities, More Moving People during the show?", but thought I was confusing it with the soundcheck. Anyone get a set list to know exactly where it was?

My pics didn't come out so well this time, but here goes (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v739/betera/theFixx112307/) - there's some other pics around Vegas and there'll be from the canyon later, but the Fixx ones are on the first two pages.

I forgot they played Facing the Wind... it was amazing. They just sounded soooo good. I was sitting in the back, I could see you guys in the front at the stage, that was cool. :) I'd like to meet up with you guys next time, it's always nice to hang out with the people who appreciate the band the most. I just didn't think to ask beforehand this time. Next time!

Anyway The Fixx never cease to amaze me. As a musician I really enjoy their excellent musicianship, Cy's voice sounds as good as it ever has to my ears, and seriously, songs like Everyone Believes... what a gorgeous piece of music, and performed with such finesse, such delicacy. It's a privilege to see them live, which is why I've been punching myself all weekend for missing the Friday show. :o

Sorry I am just posting. The joys of having to use someone elses computer whenever they are not on it themselves.

Anyways, I was blown away. I really enjoyed the setlist. Great show. The guys rocked and the meet and greet after the show was fun. Hanging out with the guys at the Irish pub...my kind of place. Carrie, Dan, Cy, Adam, Gary, Rupert and the Crew, Dr Roger and whoever else I forgot. Thanks for chatting with me and hanging out and being lots of fun. Everyone was super nice. Thanks to everyone that I met there.

Wasn't there, but upon viewing the set list for show #2, I think that one is worth a mail order of a FixxStixx. Had all the songs from the night prior, plus Chase the Fire and Facing the Wind (and supposedly Less Cities too?).

And I hear that the FixxStixx's come loaded with bonus stuff now, right? Gotta love modern tech, as it makes so much more available to us fans, without burning but a small amount of gas for the Postman.

Hi All !

I JUST got home from the airport and immediately went to this board to read everyone's take on the shows in Henderson (Vegas).

I am humbled at all the compliments, pictures, thank you's, PICTURES from Pippi, her help with my "fashion emergency", meeting all the newbies and longer term Fixxtures, compliments from Heimo (means alot to me), and too many other emotions to list here.

I was hoping for a weekend EXACTLY as it transpired. The shows were GREAT, the comeraderie was overwhelming, the hotel was classy and elegant, and I felt "on vacation" with my favorite people, Fixx fans and the band themselves. Add the new friends we made there (too many to list), and this weekend took the cake. The only thing missing was the usual cast of fans that couldn't make it.

Regarding the convention, I will say that there were some attendees that actually went to the Fixx show (s). As I made the rounds at the convention, many people asked if I was the MC at the Fixx show. When I replied that I was, they offered to hire me for MC gigs at their fairs and shows! I learned alot about how bands are offered show dates and prices, saw many negotiations, and witnessed lots of wheeling and dealing, similar to a stock market. I can't and won't comment on any other issues relating to the convention.

There was a private concert at the Hard Rock for the convention attendees. I was honored to be invited into VIP and sat and hung with the likes of Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees, Rex Smith (I still don't remember who he was), Barry Williams (Greg Brady from Brady bunch), and many other aging luminaries. The show itself had the ABBA tribute band, Great White, and 6 other bands that I can't recall right now due to jet lag, total hangover, lack of sleep, too much alcohol, etc. In a day or two I'll recall it all and post the other acts. A surprise at the show was when I walked up to KITTIE (Cheryl) from L.A. who was there. She missed the Fixx shows and was totally depressed.

In summary for tonight, I can't say THANKS enough to everyone, especially to Carrie and Dan from Buffalo for joining me for dinner, Pippi (Queen Merch) and Mr. Pippi, Cygnet and Robnet, Flow, Ed, Kevin, Andy, Detriot Donna, Arizona Carrie, Steve and Deb, and I know I'm forgetting many other names right now, for hanging and helping in many ways, and especially for the welcome you gave me and how you all made me feel. I know the band guys were also overwhelmed by the love, rounds of drinks, the company of their adoring fans, and so many other things that may go unsaid here as I'm totally drained of energy, memory, and I'm still coming down from the Love High we all experienced while there.

Too many words, feelings, memories for us all to cherish and hope to live over and over again. Special thanks again to Tour Manager Ira for his advice, guidance, and especially for affording the honor yet again to serve as MC and advance man for anything he or the band needed. It was truly my pleasure.

More to come I promise..... as if I didn't cover it all ! hahahaha..........

MUCH Love,

Dr. Roger

A few of the other bands at this show were Loving Spoonful, Warrant, Janie Lane, and the 60's All Stars (a collection of gold/platinum artists from way back in the day), among others.....

Dear MC Roger,
Your enthusiasm never ceases to amaze me. But then again, you had an amazing time! As one who could not be present for the festivities, I really appreciate the inside view. Almost felt like I was there. That will suffice until The Fixx, and you, make it back to NYC.

What a GREAT Time!!

I'm just getting time to post about our experience in Henderson.
Deborah and I barely made it to the show on time Friday night. We got there 10 minutes before the band took the stage. We were driving in from Big Sur and it took forever to get there with numerous winding roads. When we finally got to wide open highway we punched it. I felt out of place in my grungy clothes and flip flop sandals since we didn't have time to change into our concert attire at the hotel first. But, once Cy came out on stage wearing flip flops, I was off the fashion hook. Felt right at home. Thanks Cy!!

It was an AMAZING show and I literally had the best time ever at a Fixx show with my new gal Deborah and her daughter Melissa. It was GREAT to meet old friends again Pippi and Rick, Doctor Roger, Andrew (The Flow), Rhonda (Cygnet) and Rob, Pipsqueak and Sean, Ed, Kevin and I was able to meet new Fixx friends Carrie and Dan from NY and another Carrie from CA. I think I talked to Shannon too after the show. A woman approaced the table and asked about the show and I said something like "Yeah, it was amazing you should come tomorrow for the 2nd show". So, didn't know who you were then, but I believe I met you Shannon. I recall you telling the story of passing by and seeing the sign.

One thing that was funny as hell is that there was a guy who looked just like Ed there. I even started talking to him like he was Ed and he's all "Huh?". so anyway, I eventually introduced Ed and this guy who really did look like brothers.

The band did an extraordinary job on the stage. Everything was mixed perfectly HATS OFF To IRA!. One cool thing is that for the encore of The Fool Jamie played Blackie. Blackie's new owner had imported him for the evening and Jamie picked him up like an old friend and was right at home working the floyd rose like the pro that Jamie is.

My weekend included some entertainment time geared toward Deborah's daughter Melissa. Melissa wanted to see Phantom of the Opera at the Veneition and then go party at the Pussy Cat Dolls Lounge inside the PURE nightclub in Caesar's Palace. So we missed the Saturday show because of this. The funny part is that Melissa didn't really have that much fun at the nightclub and wished away that we had gone to the 2nd Fixx show.
What I didn't know was that we should have gone to Henderson anyway, because although we had missed the show, the boys were apparently partying deep into the morning. We would have loved to join the party but I didn't think to text Roger or Pippi at 11PM at night to see if there was anything going.

The trip home was FOREVER!! Man, I don't think I'll EVER drive to Las Vegas again. We spent 5 hours just getting to Barstow - OK, that's only 150 miles here people. 5 Hours is like 30 MPH average. So, after 10 hours in the car to get home we were pooped.

Had an awesome time though overall. Looking forward to seeing more shows next year.

maybe i'm thinking of the wrong person, but wasn't Rex Smith in Pirates of Penzance with Linda Ronstadt?
