But who's Tracey? and when do we get to hear the album?

01-17-2008, 08:31 PM
I was 11. Became a fan as soon as I saw the Red Skies video on MTV.

01-17-2008, 08:55 PM
I was merely nine :o When I watch the videos now, I seem to remember Stand or Fall the most clearly, and One Thing to a much lesser extent, oddly enough. I loved all the hits, and wish I'd explored the rest of their music back then...should have asked for some Fixx albums!

01-18-2008, 09:42 AM
18, when first saw the Stand or Fall video on MTV...22 when they were on the Walkabout Tour and played in Indy. They opened for The Moody Blues, then.

Kim, I thought you were either my age or younger when we met at ZooBrew!

01-18-2008, 06:36 PM
"Age & treachery over youth & beauty"...(senior moment--i forget who said that)...LOL!

I already posted all my songs in "All About You - Your Musical Talent".

http://www.thefixx.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5072&pagenumber=2

Tracey was my first love who I lost because my sister interfered in our relationship and broke us up.

The day I posted them was the same day I posted the thread. January 8, 2008. So maybe a lot of people are using it at that moment or server problems? Try again later.

I was about 12. Heard Stand or Fall on the radio.

01-20-2008, 02:17 PM
Yep when M-TV was the only channel I lived for! Martha Quinn, Nina Blackwood, JJ Jackson, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter ( I think I had a crush on him but my memory is fading)
Pretty sure our Fixx guys did a guest Veejay segment too.

I guess I was about age 12. Damn!~ where did the time go?

I was such an addict to M-TV that I was even dressed like a punker inside of a TV with M-TV on it for Halloween that year. I have to find that picture I know I have one somewhere.

Yeah! I remember that. I remember they had Cy and Adam on and someone at one point was saying somebody thought "Are We Ourselves" was about UFOs. There was also this part where Cy says, " Innnn stereo." My memory isn't all that and a bag of chips, though...

Would that have been for the "Live in the USA" video? It was shot in St. Petersburg...

I can't get over how young people were when they turned on to the Fixx. When I was eleven, I was listening to the Monkees. You all had much better musical taste.

"In '69 I was tweny-one, and I called the road my own."

01-24-2008, 09:09 AM
I like the Monkees! Bay City Rollers too! Not to make you feel worse but I was born the year you called the road your own! Now I am the Road HOG! lol!

Can't do the whole timeline due to time constraints, but I was a mere 7 years old!!!! when I got tuned into the Fixx!!!!!!!

turning 33 in March. . . how's that for love? 26 years!

OMG! Davey Jones was my "first crush"! As a really small fry, I so lived to see their show, and "The Banana Splits"! Played that game ...ooo..."pop-o-matic" Trouble...during the commercials.
My teen sitter used to watch "Dark Shadows", and she'd play Mystery Date (all I remember about that is you really didn't want to get the jerk). Hey, and"Dark Shadows" is scary, when you're a little kid... LOL!

1982 - I was 14.

God, that's depressing ;-)

I was ten when I first started listening (or watching- I really loved my MTV back then). I'd occasionally fall away from it, and always come right back. I recall being the most obsessed around the time React came out until Ink. Then my fixx world was quiet again until I stumbled upon Elemental. I haven't really stopped listening since. I imagine this pattern of moving on for a while and rediscovering will continue until I can no longer hear. ;) I have to say there is something strangely comforting about having this one constant persist in my little musical world. I love hearing their new stuff as well as the songs I've been listening to for the majority of my life!

Found another older-interesting thread.

In '82 I was 10 :)

Their music is timeless- God, I love it.

If I could figure out how to quote properly here, I would. Sherri, echo on most everything you posted here- MTV, crush on Adam Hunter (after Cy, of course). And when The Fixx were guest VJs (in '86, I think). I taped it- have a terribly ratty VHS copy of that hour. I'm afraid to watch it & get it all snagged/caught up in the VCR.

Trying to remember the list of videos they selected- not in any particular order-
The Pretenders
Ben E. King
Paul Simon
The Cure
World Party
ZZ Top
Elvis Costello
Warren Zevon
Talking Heads
The Fixx : ) Built for the Future (can't remember if that was the MTV premier- they wrapped up the hour w/this) Also can't remember if Secret Separation was shown. I think there was 1 other video by Neil Young. Haven't watched it in 23 yrs- so I hope this list is correct, it's close.

Adam & Cy hosted- from something like an electronics repair shop or whatever. Get it? Fixx things...

1982- Red Skies & Stand or Fall being played by Orange County cover bands... totally got me into the Fixx. I was 19, fake ID'n so I could see these songs played live by someone, and lovin' the new 80s movement of music.

1983- Reach the Beach... Saved by Zero started slowly on air and built a tremendous following over a span of six months. Hadn't really seen that happen with a song on the radio. Then came One Thing and they soared, of course. Later that summer saw the Fixx at Hollywood Park, along with The Thompson Twins, Berlin, and the Police. Fixx outplayed 'em all. Good fun!

Rest of the 80s: Now in my mid-20s, Walkabout... Secret Separation was a Richard Blade staple on his video show. Calm Animals... Driven Out- awesome and pertinent then, more awesome and more pertinent today. I remember they opened with their first four songs from Calm Animals at the Coach House as they did a "two shows in one night" deal. Tremendous stamina by the boys with the blessings of humility and humor!

1990s: Ink took critical hits, but I totally dug it. A different direction somewhat but fresh, I tried to parallel my life this way as I hit 30. Got married, bought a house, finally graduated from college, and all the while waited for a new Fixx release as well... finally Elemental arrived! Happy Landings to all!

Y2K-Present: Want That Life... a good creedo! Now with two little Fixxitos, I hit 40 and saw the band re-energized at Universal Amphitheatre in LA, again better than their peers that night: The Smithereens, Berlin and The Outfield... though the Oufield rocked with just three guys. Now 45, witnessed a GREAT show at the OC Fair with Psychedelic Furs and The Alarm in 2008. God Bless You Mr. Peters, you're a testimony to guys my age! And to Mr. Curnin and company, all I can say is you have aged much better than I.

i was 36 when their last cd came out Want that Life : Release Date: September 23, 2003

wow, hard to believe its been SIX years since that one came out-

thats means i'll be 42 when the new one comes out......

6 years for 10 songs means about 7 months (.6) per song! LOL j / k !!!

tick..... tock.....

spin it

1988 - I was 18 ,we didnt really get exposed to the Fixx over here in the Uk.I had seen adverts in sounds etc and knew Jamie had played on Daryl Halls second solo album.
I was looking for something new to get into at my local record shop and got the owner to put Phantoms on ,He played a bit of each track as he always did and I was instantly hooked. Two days later I heared "letter to both sides" on Fletch and instantly recognized it was the fixx even with such a short clip.
All albums were mine within a month.
1991 whilst on a camping trip in Barmouth North Wales I saw an advert for Ink in a music mag and couldnt believe they were still together as I d been told they had split ,was overjoyed.
Had to wait till Swansea gig in 2003 or 4 to see my first concert and meet up with the fantastic people that are Wilkie,Stuart and Lisa ,and also Ettanej who I have not heared from for ages.

2009 Saw Cy in my work town of Chester and had a few jars with him which was so cool.Great to be part of such an intimate time for Cy,with his first shows.
I still keep in touch with so many of you via various websites and I consider so many of you friends ,how cool is that ?
