How about some of the fixxture family throwing up a photo of themselves?
Im sure the boys will get a kick out of it and probably recognize lots of us!

this was from halloween at school, plus i wore my rollerblades from 8-4pm
my principal( slash my BOSS too) just laughed and shook his head- LOL! But i must admit, it was a lot easier rollerblading around the classroom assisting all my students in record time!!!!
Remember to shrink down those photos, not too big of a file now....

), Keep an eye out though... sometimes when I drink, and the musics really really good, and there's pretty girls around to chat with, I get kinda excited, and then lightning storms will shoot out of my butt

Which one are you in the pic? I know we've been to several of the same Fixx shows but have yet to meet. At the July 2001 STL show I had some guy and his friends trying to convince me all night that he was Wray from the board but other Fixxtures confirmed it was not you. So please enlighten me.

New Faces
Just thought I'd show everyone this pic, was taken last Saturday the 16th November.
Those of you who know me, know that I have a wife and 3 fantastic children, my middle child Christopher, is autistic, suffering from what is called Aspergers Syndrome, {look it up at Google for a clearer picture}. Anyway, Christopher has an amazing memory, he has overwhelming fascinations with many things, the Welsh band Catatonia especially, in particular the ex lead singer, {they split last year}, Cerys Matthews. Christopher and her share a magic bond that defies understanding, she writes to him regularly by e.mail from wherever in the World she is, sends pics and CD's etc. Cerys has been in Nashville the last few months, working on her solo album. www.cerysmatthews.info
Well Cerys flew back into the UK last Saturday to guest at a charity concert only 20 miles down the road from us, she flew in from Louisina, landed at London Heathrow at 4.00pm UK time, was driven the 4 hours back to Wales and in true professional style, turned up and played a blinder.
Anyway, to get to the point of this posting, Cerys came over to our table, and sat with us for over an hour, playing with Christopher and my other 2 children, David and Stephanie, being totally unfased by the occasion, Christopher looked up, saw her, smiled and took her hand like an old friend he'd not seen for a while, {well she is that}, and proceeded to play 'Stack the coke cans' with her, this pic was taken only moments before she took the stage, we were allowed to video the performance, the only people allowed to do so on the night as all press were excluded as well, so have a really unique keepsake to go with the rest of Christopher's collection. oooopppsss waffling on a bit folks, click for the pic.

Hey fellow Fixxtures!
Jen & I just came back from Amsterdam & had the greatest pleasure of meeting up w/Guido! It is always a joy & pleasure to meet other Fixxtures!!! Guido was simply charming. We got to spend a delightful afternoon chatting about our favorite band & getting to know one another. I truly think that Fixxtures are the most pleasant people to meet on this planet! Thank you Guido for traveling to meet us!! Like we have mentioned, it was like meeting up w/a long lost friend. Thank you again. So, here are 2 out of the 3 STL girls w/the famous Guido! Enjoy!

Well our computer is old (by technology standards--it's still new to me, only 6 yrs old), so the scanner my friend gave us will not work with this useless thing. (The computer does not have the right port or whatever.)
Soooooo I am still trying to get up a photo of me with Cy at the concert at the Magicbag in Ferndale Michigan a few years ago. I had the most ridiculous, biggest grin on my face.
Anyway--what I wanted to ask anyone is how do you become a fixxture? I've been on the mailing list since about '97 and on this forum since 2000. Not a big deal--------just curious, as I've been a Fixxture for 20 years now!!!

Nope, no photos yet. It's on my to do list. Plus I am usually the one taking photos, so I have not got any recent ones of me yet. I also do not have a digital camera or scanner. What I do have is a cool photo of me taken with Cy from a few years back, and I also have a friend with a scanner. But I have not managed to rememeber to take it over there for one of our playdates. (It's hard enough remembering the diaper bag, extra clothes, sippy cups, my purse, go potty before we leave etc. etc.!!!!!) One of these days I'll get my mug up here.

Thanks for all your suggestions Octo, but you will laugh, our computer is 'old' --1997---and we still have Windows 95. Soooooooo, that's that. My husband spends all day at his computer at work so he wants nothing to do with this thing when he gets home. We will upgrade eventually, but there's no reason to now (we're not much into keeping up with the Jones'). I am going to try the IMG thingy you mentionned.

Don't feel bad, Caroline... I was on 95 until just a few months ago. My dad got a new computer and decided he didn't like it as good as his old one, so he offered to let me buy it. But it's only 98! But it's just as well, all the horrible things I keep hearing about XP.

It's too bad that Linda and I cannot attend the New Year's Eve bash in Arizona as we originally had planned. Linda is having surgery today. (That's a valid excuse if ever I heard one.) Please say a prayer that this fixes (Fixxes) her up once and for all. Then when you see us on the next tour, Linda will be back to her old self dancing in the front row rather than just bopping around in wheelchair. It's hard to rock in a wheelchair, especially if nobody has pimped your ride.

In the meantime, Linda seems to like me in the roll of wet nurse and man-servant.

My story....
I was once an unhappy data-only server....
but I was reborn, to become.. multi-purposed....
new internal components were located....
it was ahhh.... nice tight fit....
I was then given a much better location in the living room....
before the final upgrade enabling liquid-cooled computation....
Life is soooo much better now, I can now watch TV all day long, listen to the FIXX anytime i want, its awesome.. but best of all, my master doesnt have a counter on the brews, last night i totally refereshed my pipeline burst and I covered my rear-ports with an off-by-one error.... 4 times!, he may be the master, but he's still human, hehe <hiccup>..

Funny story...
One of my criteria was finding someone to put up with me - harder than I thought. The man (my now husband) thinks I'm easy and doesn't understand what my own mother warned him about!!! Can you believe that? My mom asked HIM if he knew what he was getting into... convulsive fits of laughter followed after I picked my jaw up off the ground and pulled my eyes back in my head.
Crazy sounds good to me!!!!!! That and someone who would be willing to take out the trash!!!! HA! LOL!!! ...Oh ... And would willingly want to put up with me!! HA! LOL!!!

Yes I got the idea. In musician's slang there are synonymes for guitar like "axe", "breadwinner" and "moneymaker". Don't forget "rig" , "gear" etc. for other equipment. (It's funny how slang arises. For instance, the Breadwinner was an electric guitar made by Ovation in the '70s. And "moneymaker" comes from the lyrics: "shake your moneymaker".)

My hair is not quite that long.. but getting there.... I foolishly cut 18 inches off my hair when I got ticked at an x boyfriend( one of those irrationaly decisions) and have been trying to grow it back ever since... Now that I finally had made it throught that horrible in between stages, with out getting frustrated and cutting it again.. I may be home free....

Haha....I don't think so. By the end of the evening, I managed to make it half way across the rink without falling...but I was hunched over trying to keep my balance (not a pretty sight). When I reached the halfway point, I looked back at my friends and yelled, "I made it!" and then I fell and got a muscle cramp.

I was accosted yesterday by a darling 2yr old with long red hair. I told her what beautiful red hair she had and she corrected me- said it was ORANGE. She had on an Ariel shirt too (The Little Mermaid).
My grandfather, my dad, my sister and her daughter all have red hair and blue eyes. They all have flaming tempers as well.... Is there a connection between red hair and red tempers?

It is not a lake, it is the river "Rhein". Just 10 Minutes away from the animal shelter if anyone likes walking a dog. Really a nice place and the grass is high and green.
And yes, I am in a much better shape/condition now

This is a goofy one of me in the woods--my friends tease me about "Kim in nature"--note the heels! Yeah, I don't do nature very well. Things with 8 legs freak me out! But could this be one of the creatures that you would be running from?! The photo was taken of this particular beast in it's natural state.
Note: tho while in it's cage, the beast is shown in a wild frenzy during feeding time. It uses it's claws and sharp teeth to it's advantage in securing it's catch. The beady little eyes are a signal to others that the catch is now his alone.

I'm going this Saturday to IDOL! A month ago the show up in Green Bay was awesome!
Idol was not Idle.... very good- he is like a 45 year kid, and he makes fun of himself knowing its all a laugh..and still swears a lot! But there were several young kids there, and he actually toned down some of his cursing unlike the 18 older show i saw in Ottawa a month ago....
And his voice was never great, but he is much better now than i remember him being in the cocaine 80s! and hes in great shape too, he had no problem ripping off his shirt and making every female near the stage weak in the knees!
But i went to Steve Stevens... he is incredible...nuff said!
The keyboard player is D. DSheridian who used to play w/ Dream Theatre....
the whole band is very good and tight!
It was in a small theatre with great acoustics and decor..... 2thumbsUP!

We were buying our first stereo system, and you had to go back into one of those audio rooms where there were like 20 systems set-up for you to hear. All of them were tuned to the same radio station. The DJ came on and said here's a new one, hope you like it--"Eyes Without A Face." OMG! That song is an incredible audio feast anyway--but pumped through 20 systems at once! WOW!
Saw him once, in concert, after he'd recouped from the motorbike thing--he rocks! He doesn't pipe in the music--he sounds the same live!

The funds are no there to travel right now, but another one I'd like to have seen who is out touring now is Beck--the slide guitar on "Guero"...fabulous! The song "Black Tambourine"--that chunky guitar goes right to my spine--has me dancing in the car! Amazing in concert--he really does that splits thing with the mic, smoothly comes right back up--cool dresser, cool dancer, cool music!

"Who do you like the sound of?" hmm I like just about all of the guitar work done by the music I listen to... but my favorite to try and play is Midnight Oil electric and acoustic rifs and my leads are more like Will Sergeant (Echo & Bunnymen). But I am not that good! We used to play a few covers of them but that was many moons ago. Anyways... pretty and shiny is a good start. oooh ebay can be dangerous heh.

And i always have a ton of little "rock stars" in class.... ya know the art /music thing overlaps in many areas!
god i used to play LIPS LIKE SUGAR alll the time... and i saw them twice on that tour- DarienLake NY and Wembley, London....
Echo's new stuff is very good to, and their road show is still worth it- go see em!
Mac chain smokin his Marb. lights from start to finish.... and all that fog!

only problem is today anyone that owns a computer is now a graphic designer and the market is flooded with SHITE!
and there are lots of kids with bachelors degrees that cant find work cause there are more qualified people than there are jobs... Plus i think colleges "pad" kids right through (just to ring the cash register) and then theyve never really been told they are not that good OR there are people way better than you and that dont find that out til they go out job hunting.... it reminds me of elementary school where the teacher always told you your stuff was great for esteem purposes, and yet they do the same at college except they take you money!
and yes some kids will be successful and some wont, but i always preach to the kids " make sure you have 3 plans- in case A or B doesnt work..." be versatile!
I have plenty of these art schools that would love to have you come for 30K+ a year and you only need a C- average and a heartbeat try and recruit students.
I just read a 20 page essay on todays artists, and the pitfalls that are facing them- and all of us.

She now has a autographed WTLife cd and poster autographed by everyone accept Gary, and she got the royal treatment from all members...
She wanted to get her pic with Rupe who we talked to for a bit, but you know how others get their attention and get swamped with questions/a-'graphs/pics! So he disappeared while we talked to the other guys- poof! But Rupe stayed out to meet and greet everyone for a long long time. I think they were still adjusting to the time difference.
So even the 3 hour car ride home she slept with an ear2ear grin all the way home!

The shows were quick and hats off to the band for the variety of songs they scattered over the two shows! It was; 730pm- the knack, and then the FIXX followed, then 10pm the fixx (left their gear right in place!) then the knack.... So they literally had maybe 15 minutes between shows.... and back on stage for show #2!
the knack was ok....i didnt think they were bad, but i wouldnt pay to go see them by themselves. the drummer was entertaining though SP! But IMHO ive seen better bar bands- so they are just riding the wave of their"sharona" for all its worth. They played a 10-15 minute version of "tequila" that occupied a good chunk of their set as well as the Doors cover tune they also played....Yawn! 45min sets for both bands. So yeah they had to cram a lot into a little time slot...
Oh the pretty standard set list... the new ones plus the staples.
New shirts too- black with yellow letters (front) and the back had big type of OTL2A on the backside. THE OTHER shirt was black with pink the fixx lettering on only the front.

Greetings Everyone,
I am run a small martial arts school in Texas. I have the rank of Shidoshi, which means full instructor.. fully licensed, etc.. I have been doing it since i was young.
I was able to check out more of the board yesterday and wow.. lots of great info. I even checked out the rare songs. I thought I had everything! Ha.. that's what I get for thinking .
I have been a Fixx fan since Shuttered Room first appeared in America and even saw them briefly during that tour. The last time I saw them in concert was 3 years ago in Dallas. It was The Fixx, Berlin, and Culture Club. We got there early and The Fixx was the opening act.
Petey is my oldest cat, so I use his name as my online user name. Ive had him for 14 years now. Found him in a Randalls parking lot, laying on my car. He was laying upside down with his legs completely stretched out. I was the oddest thing I had ever seen at the time. He's been with me ever since.

Well... this thread has been kind of dormant for a while so Steve's icon inspired me to post this older skiing pict. I never have tried snow boarding, maybe some day. I surf and water ski so maaaybe I'll limit all the falling to a minimum.

When I jumped that ledge I didn't quite 'stick' the landing (why my hat, gloves and googles were off). But actually both skis are together, your just seeing one on top of the other. Or I should say that they are back to back
No Steve, haven't tried parabolic skis yet. Still working with the 'old timer' style. But some of my bud's have them and they keep prodding me to make the switch!
Kim... that's why I have the smile on my face, I finally lost that blasted paper boy down that last slope. Tho my wipeout was the caused by a hot looking 'snow bunny' with red hair...
Ahh Bash, I grew up by a lake so I used to ice skate a lot (play hockey). But it's been a looong time since and I'd be more afraid of all of the bruises I'd be getting for skating the snow boarding!
HMmm.... I keep promising myself that I am going to learn how to ski every winter... maybe this year.... or maybe I'll just stick to the ice with Bash... Seems a lot safer... though I love the thought of racing down a mountain( if I could find one In MInnesota )being a speed demon.... perhaps if I had a good teacher( Goo, Hemio, Steve,....anyone???) .. but then again ... I already know how to Ice Skate .. decisions .. decisions....*sigh* ... maybe I'll just stay in by the fire ...

Jeanne - try cross country skiing. Way less scarier than downhill. I loved cross countrying through the woods when I lived in Snow Country.

Indiana hasn't been cold long enough for a few years now to make any really thick safe outdoor ice. There's a great Olympic type skadium here.

Heimo - Yes, the babies seem to find me very amusing. And Jack, like his big sister, loves the camera - he's a big ham already. When he was smaller I would lay him on the floor & put in my FIXX videos dvd & he would stare at the TV kicking and waving to the beat. His daddy is a huge DepecheMode fan so he has good music genes on both sides!!

Here's a picture of me a day after I got sunburned to the bone (I went fishing and was about to apply my sunblock when I realized I mistakenly packed bug spray......where was my shirt?......yeah, left it in the car.) Anyway, my son wanted to swim the next day and I could barely move!! Live and learn, right?!

Our news here has nothing but coverage of the heavy rains,floods, and road /bridges that completely washed out. Some guy drove his truck through a flooded roadway and it went in the washed out road area and flipped into the temporary river, unfortunately the man drowned.
9 counties south of Syracuse, (between Binghamton to Albany) have been proclaimed as disaster areas by Governor Pataki.

Teachers are like parents - when we are young, we may "think" that they are nagging - but, in truth, they are only trying to teach. A major fan since 1982. Trying to convert my husband. By the way, Gary was with Adam and the Ants, Roxy Music. After the last show, I came home and found a younger version of him on the back of my old album. He and I spoke about this in Eden, NC last month.
Nice picture! Where in Virginia was it taken? The background looks much like my wife's hometown of Cumberland, MD.

When I attended Musicians' Institute in 1985, there were 500 guitarists, 100 drummers, and 60 bass players in my class. Out of the 60 bassists, only 3 of them were girls. Believe me, there's room for you in the world of music and if you love to groove, then bass is where it's at.

Yesterday when I showed that photo to a coworker, she remarked that I look more like my great granny's sister than her. I didn't see it until I did a side by side of me and her. Now I know where my features came from. . . in the beginning, I thought I looked like my dad, but this is incredible! I even have her nose and eyes. . . it's like a mirror to the past. . .

That was my first reaction too, but I figured you'd know your face better than me so I wouldn't argue. You really are a beautiful woman. Obviously you come from some pretty special stock...not just talking about looks. (I never doubted that.)

My mother is a direct descendant of someone who fought in the American Revolution...New Englanders, so don't worry- my ancestors were anti-slavery.
On my dad's side though, my grandmother came by herself to America from Scotland when she was just sixteen! Pretty amazing. We have the trunk she brought her stuff in...with the name of the port on it...pretty cool!
(My grandparents have all moved on now but they live in my heart.)
