Brave,
Regret not makin' the trip to Riverside. I gotta know, when you say intimate setting, about how many folks are you talking about? Also, any others from the setlist you can remember? Haven't...
Boy did they get that order wrong- in no way should the Fixx be openers for the Tom Tom Club. I literally can only think of one song by them, while I literally can think of 40 by the Fixx.
Shuttered Rooms on cassette. Cameras in Paris should've gotten more props!
1982- Red Skies & Stand or Fall being played by Orange County cover bands... totally got me into the Fixx. I was 19, fake ID'n so I could see these songs played live by someone, and lovin' the new...
It's been a while since I've posted, but I just saw Better Off Dead, a movie from the mid 80's, and heard the song at the end by Cy. Has that one ever been played live by the band; it was the first...
There used to be a place in Fullerton, CA, called Ichabods back in the mid '80's. On the weekends, cover bands would play (some good, some not so) while I sipped down very tasty $1 Long Island iced...
Secret Separation... it was performed flawlessly at the Costa Mesa concert
Fixxation,
How did you know the writer was not at the concert; did I miss that in the article?
This was a great show... awesome weather, a good crowd, and the band was tight!!! Oh, and they did play my favorite Fixx song ever, "Driven Out" as well as what was on the setlist above. I was in...
You know I had to love it... just look it my user ID name!!!
Gotta admit, I bummed that the Hollywood Park and Long Beach shows have been cancelled. This leaves, pretty much, five shows in Central/Northern California and none (except for a private one for...
Which hit are they talking about, anyway?
Still Around...
It's mystical and melodic. A good one from "Ink."
They came down to SoCal that summer with same lineup plus Berlin at Hollywood Park. Here was their order of appearance:
1. Thompson Twins
2. The Fixx
3. Berlin
Headliner. The Police
From...
Driven Out is their best song of all.
I've said it before but it bears repeating:
Warm summer day + comfortable cot + plus cold brew + Happy Landings = Bliss
Still get goosebumps when this song starts playing... how many 20+ year old songs can do that?
Prove is the best song here- it demonstrates the tight sound that reviewers of their recent concerts comment about. It would be a great single on contemporary radio as well. Too bad it's not on their...
I don't understand why All Is Fair does not get more props. It's catchy, has good drive, and the lyrics work well with it. Most fans either love or hate this CD, but I love it and All Is Fair kicks...
Driven Out is by far the best song of this set (refer to my sign on name). Such an important directive for life in a song that rocks! A distant second is The Flow.
This CD gets bashed from time to time, but I have always liked it. In fact, from beginning to end I believe it's their best overall. I remember when I first opened and listened to it, I couldn't...
Love the selections here!!
Definitely would love to see "Built for the Future" live, as well as "Happy Landings" and "Two Different Views." But how about "You Don't Have to Prove Yourself?" I...
Man, I can't believe I missed the Coach House show (family obligations). Someone out there has got to tell me the size of crowd that showed up for the boys. I know the place holds about 450 - 500 or...
For any band to be around 20+ years and still kickin' butt, it's usually 95% right on with a few misses once in a while. All just go for three. Of course, opinions are like, um, belly buttons...
...
Here's my top 15, with a few comments:
1. Driven Out- great summation of society, complete with a directive for life at its ending (and it flat out rocks!!) It's brilliant and clearly my all time...
