Went to Best Buy to pick up the new Muse limited edition cd + dvd set that was just released today and they were already sold out. Don't know how many copies they started with but it wasn't nearly enough. Wonder if their appearance on the VMA's had something to do with it? Got a rain check - Best Buy's the only place around for music besides Walmart, Target type stores.
I'll just listen to Lukas Rossi tonight instead. Yeah, that'll make me happy.

    XX- The XX !!!

What an incredible debut by these young South Londoners!! Their single, "Basic Space" is one of the best songs I've heard all year. The entire album is actually FULL of great songs.

    an oldie, but a goodie

Dug Matthew Sweet's dual disc set of Girlfriend/Goodfriend out of the CD stack

Does anybody know what he's been up to, if anything, lately?

Thought I'd heard awhile back he was playing in a group?

    Thanks!

    Kim,

He has the second of his collaboration with Suzannah Hoffs out now. It's called "Under the Covers, Vol. 2" and features covers of thier favorite 70's songs. It's really good as is the first set with has covers of 60s songs on it. Matthew also released "Sunshine Lies" last year. That set wasn't bad but does have a couple very good tunes from him on it.

....as for what I'm listening to at this moment....a bit of old school....

    Led Zeppelin II

It sounds so old now (1969). Good band, though.

    Here's another old one.

Sufficiently Breathless (1973) by Captain Beyond. A rather laid back album. Rod Evans left Deep Purple to become the singer for this California band. I knew guys in high school who were major fans. They even got front row seats in a little bar just to see them play.

Great album, especially considering it is their first.

    On rotation -

Black Gives Way To Blue - Alice In Chains (seeing them live next week),

Close To The Edge - Yes (never gets old),

Ink - The FIXX (can't get "Shut It Out" out of my head!),

The Chair In The Doorway - Living Colour (trying very hard to find something to love about it, biggest disappointment for a long time).
The world will always turn, with or without your point of view...

"What Is Love" from the 20th Anniversary Concert Live at the Shepherd's Bush Empire

That's a mouthful, isn't it? BTW, I love that DVD. Howard Jones's one man band version on Human's Lib was kind of mild. The live full band version on the DVD really rocks.

Oh yeah. And I'm in love with Shaz Sparks.

    "Silent House"

No. Not the song by The Fixx. It's the song written by Neil Finn. I'm comparing the Dixie Chicks version to the Crowded House version. The latter wins
