    World Weary

Dirk - Great job on the World Weary cover! There are now some strong considerations for doing a tribute CD; so please stay tuned to the board. Timelines have not yet been discussed - but between myself and other Fixxtures, we will make some decisions and get to it!

Do you have a website? If so, please post it.

    World Weary

Great choice of cover, love the swirling synths and to hear a woman's voice tackle a Fixx track, excellent, loved it, can't wait to hear the others, already have Guido's version of Two Different Views, anyone else have their's ready and maybe available for download?

Wow, I'm overwhelmed by your reaction. Thanx alot :-)
I recorded the song years ago and gave up making music shortly after that. I really should dust my synthies and go on...

BTW, I really enjoyed your version of TDV, Guido! Great singer.

Sounds good, seeing as I already have all 3 mentioned tracks, anyone else's contribution ready, be great to maybe make these available as a limited edition download or even a "Club Edition" with professional artwork, I mean, would they accept work from more than one artist under one title? In fact, gonna search online for things like Red Skies and Saved By Zero at sites like mp3.com and Vitaminic, be interesting to see the results. Will report back....

    Uh.....well......

Stuart - I can see why you reserved judgment - which would bring up a whole set of questions as to issues of quality. Do we want to go that direction or not? Who would decide?

Well, I've never recorded a FIXX cover, but I was inspired to write a new song when my former band was asked to open for them at Navy Pier in Chicago, 2001. I've since recorded it and you can download it here:

The song is called "Coming Back Again". Let me know what you think and thanks for listening!

GearHed, really enjoyed listening to your track.

Is there a chance that we can persuade you to do a Fixx cover?

First of all, thank you for listening! I would love to record a FIXX cover eventually. I don't know how the hell I'm gonna decide what song to do! I'll have to think about it. Unfortunately, my favorite drummer (and FIXX fanatic) just moved to Arizona. But, we're both running Cubase VST which would make a cross country recording project feasable.
I'll have access to a DSL line next week so I can check out some of the current covers that you guys have posted.

    FIXX covers reviewed

I got a chance to listen to the three covers that have been submitted. Overall, I was happy to hear that people aren't doing note for note regurgitations of the original versions. Cool!

Stand or Fall - Thin Men: Excellent! I liked everything about it. Any plans to come to Chicago?

World Weary - the Calm Animals: Nice textures. Really fit the mood of the song. This is just me, but I'm not a big fan of female lead vocalists (a few exceptions being Coctue Twins, Lush and Garbage) so that didn't work for me personally.

Two Different Views - Layla/Peter/Guido: Nice "unplugged" feel along with the shimmery JW-O style electric guitar and some nice subtle bass work. See above concerning vox.

I've decided I'm going to do a version of Lost Planes ASAP. Of course, with a 9 month old baby in the house that means a couple of months! I'll let ya know when it's available.
