    Fixxture Tribute Idea...

Hey!!! I just had an idea...How's about we start a Fixxture Tribute Mp3 site for people to at least come to and check out the tunes? What we can do is have a main site at, say Soundclick.com, post the login ID and the password (here only), and tell everyone to upload their songs at the destination. Sound feasable? Let me know.

    Cool Hi 5ean!

Not a bad idea at all, but...

    1. Is it allowed to post 'our' FIXX renditions on SoundClick, is this legal? And if so...

    2. It's better if *one or two* persons (kinda opps) are in control of this fixx tribute mp3 site, so they can upload the contributions. Giving the password to every fixx msgboard visitor might cause problems.

    3. I would volunteer if you think my English was good enough...

    ;-)

I've decided which track I'm going to do, and I'll be working on it over the next couple months. Unfortunately I won't be able to get some key tracks laid down till early Jan, but that's only about a month away. Looking forward to working on it.

Sounds like we missed the boat but Rob and I did a cover of "Do What You Can"

The only boat you missed was the "electronic" fixx tribute CD. Your rendition of Do What You Can is absolutely beautiful and doesn't really belong on the electronic tribute. More appropiately, your contribution fits in well with Guido and Dirk's contributions.

It is time to reactivate the Fixx Fan's Tribute project.
Guido? What do we have rounded up already?

Anyone that wants to contribute to the project e'mail me privately please.
    thanks
    Steve

I agree. There were some great covers that didn't fit the mold we were trying to go after. All of the contributing artists for the electronic tribute are all huge Fixx fans. But, they were the ones that also were into Depeche Mode, Yaz and Erasure, etc.

I'm coordinating The Fixx and a Tribute to Dead or Alive. And frankly, the Fixx tribute will come-out ahead as an overall better cd. The reason: The songs. The Fixx wrote great songs. And at the end of the day, great songs live on. And I applaud any musician that would cover The Fixx. My synthpop friends and contemporaries came together to honor The Fixx with this project out of love and respect.

Good luck with your project Guido. It's quite a job. Paperwork alone!!!

    I guess I didn't word that well.
I surely didn't mean that the electronic collaborators weren't fans, rather that users of this board were trying to piece their own tribute together.

Sorry if I came across crass.

    tribute CD

I'd like to get back on board for this disc if possible. Two years ago I said something about covering Lost Planes. Totally forgot until I got an e-mail from Steve the other day about it. I've already started working on it. What is the deadline? Thanks.

No deadline as of yet. Still rounding up existing tracks. Or should I say the deadline is next week that way people get to work?
    Ha! Just kidding

Chris Martin recently said that without a deadline nothing got done. Yeah, no date yet.

Is it still that Tribute Album where Guido from the Netherlands recorded Two different views for?
And I remember a guy called Dirk Kastens from Germany/Osnabrück with a fine version of world weary...

Oh yes, would like to see those songs on a record.

@ Guido: Would be good to see you back on the board!

Yes Yes. That is the project.
So far we have Dirk's fine version of World Weary, Cygnet's Do What You Can. I need to acquire Thinmen's Stand or Fall and Guido's Two Different Views (actaully it is by Me Jane).

Perhaps the new MarcPro will contribute something?
And Gearhed is working up Lost Planes.

Ultimately a CD is the goal but I would like to host what we have so far for download provided the artists grant permission. World Weary and Do What You Can are already available for download from Dirk and Cygie's own sites.
