Newbie photo question...

Hi, going to the the band play here in Denver this Sunday! Very Pumped! Haven't seen them live since they opened for the Moody Blues back in, I beleive 1985, in Fort Wayne Indiana.

My question is, does the band allow photography during it's shows? Recording of any kind?

Welcome to the board, they do allow photography, but it also depends on the venue :P

Does indeed depend entirely on the venue. Some of them are downright belligerent about it. Be sure to avoid using a flash (you'll have to use fast film if you're non-digital). Your photos won't all be fabulous, but you're less likely to annoy the management and won't distract the band as much...Happy snapping!

Hehe, i think that it should be up to the band wether they want to allow photography or not, because they are the ones who are playing not the venue, hehe...

You'd think so. I have a very vivid memory of a club in Delaware where I was forbidden to shoot...even though the band said I could. Who knows...maybe their regulars in the witness protection program or something. Anyway, it wasn't worth the hassle...

Hello All,

I think the reason many groups are against it is people would sell the pictures and make money off the band. Like most of us we enjoy the Fixx and their music. As long as they are for personal use, I don't think any band would be annoyed.

Musegirl was right on, "Be sure to avoid using a flash" some people keep flashing throughout the show and ruin it for everyone. The fast films today are great. I have not experimented with 800 ASA or higher. The 400 ASA film is much better than it used to be.
