    Smile Mistaken Lyrics

    Hello All,

Is there been a song that you thought the singer was saying one thing, only to find out he had a completely different lyric.

Please share yours. Here is a couple I have heard. My best friends sister thought that "No More Mr. Nice Guy" by Alice Cooper was "Dobo is a nice guy."

My mistaken line was from Trooper a song called "We're Here For A Good Time." I thought the line said, "And the Sun is shinin, in this greatest city." The actually is "And the sun is shinin,
    In this rainy city."

I am sure some of you have better ones love to hear them.

    The Who - "Livin' is fuc@%d, livin' is f#$%ed, it's a put-on".

I KNEW they couldn't be saying that because it was on the RADIO. But that's what it sounded like.

They really say "Emminance front ..." etc.

The classic one is Purple Haze. "Excuse me while I kiss this guy."

Or it could be "Excuse me while I kiss this fly." (HELP ME!)

    I can dig this topic

remember the rumour about Paul McCartney being dead

a lyrical moment misinterpreted at the end of Strawberry Fields Forever was part of the reason

on the final master it sounds like John is saying "I Buried Paul"

but if you listen to take 7 you'll hear it more clearly as "Cranberry Sauce"

he also tells Ringo to calm down, but that drumming is just plain brilliant, Ringo considers that peice to be his best work with the Beatles

    This one proves I'm dumb.

The theme song for the Green Acres tv show:

da da da da da THE CHORES!
da da da da da THE STORES!
da da da da da FRESH AIR!
da da da da da CAZH WEAR!

It's short for casual wear. Sure, why not? ...(should be Times Square).

My favorite screw ups were all...

from my youth. My dad was a HUGE CCR fan and I was listening with him one day when he corrected me on the mistaken lyrics "there's a bathroom on the right" which was "there's a bad moon on the rise"... I thought the bathroom one sounded funny but hey I was a kid and that's what I heard.

Then there was the family vacation when my sister was singing some Kenny Rogers that was playing. "400 children and a crop in the field" which turned out to be 4 hungry children. And she quickly followed that up with some Dobie Gray and sang "Give me the Beach Boys and free my soul". She may have been "lost in her rock and roll" but she didn't have the "beat".

And finally there was a best friend of mine who actually walked around singing a Foreigner ditty from the 4 LP "She's a virgin" "Check it and see how virgin my love can be". Oddly he actually thought that was the song.

Smile Here are a couple more

    Hello All,

My wife thought that in People Are People that the line was, "People are people so why should it be that you and me together are so ugly." The line is, "people are people so why should it be that you and I get along so awfully."

Another one I thought Peter Gabriel in Games Without Frontiers said, "She so popular." Only to find out he is speaking French and saying, "Jeux sans frontieres."

I have a question what is Beck saying in Loser. To me it sounds line he is saying, "sodium penathol, I'm a loser."

    Huey Lewis and the News

In the song "If this is it" there is a line that goes "you'd say anything to avoid a fight".

my mom always thought the line was "you'd say anything to a butterfly".

Everytime that song comes on at work I call her and sing that line to her. Then she hangs up on me!!!!!!

I also knew a lady who thought the line "when smokey sings" by abc was "when smoking's in". She wouldn't let her kid listen to the song because she thought it promoted smoking. Instead it was simply a tribute to the great r+b singer Smokey Robinson.

In case no one got it. I was reefering, I mean referring to a Cheech and Chong movie. I can't remember which one though.

They were in a mental hospital. The comic who does sound effects, (he was in the Police Academy movies) was pretending to be Jimi Hendrix. "Excuse me while I kiss this fly....help me!. (nod to the movie, The Fly)

Can anyone out there enlighten me and name the movie...and the comic's name for that matter?

Smile I am pretty sure I'm right

    Hello Dejapete,

"Can anyone out there enlighten me and name the movie...and the comic's name for that matter?"

The Comedians name is Michael Winslow who played Cadet Larvell Jones. He was in two Cheech and Chong movies Next Movie and Nice Dreams. I think the movie you are referring to is Next Movie. If Pee Wee Herman was in the movie than it was Next Movie.

    Hope this helps.

The movie is Nice Dreams. I'm crazy enough that I went out and rented it to be sure.

That was Michael Winslow. He was there, doing his Jimi Hendrix at Casa del Whackos.

I checked, and Paul Reubens (Pewee) is in Nice Dreams and Next Movie.

    Thanks for your help!

    Um, keeping with the thread.

Until recently, I thought it was "feel the pull, feel the strain. Ain't no value 'til you treasure it."

That actually makes more sense to me than "feel the pull, feel the swing."
