Jack's a great guy. He got me through all the driving for the SoCal shows this summer, and was waiting for me in Indianapolis when I flew there straight afterwards. Imagine my withdrawal symptoms when I came home to no Jack in the bay area. Fortunately, several Jack stations stream online. It's a fun format.

Question Does anyone remember the Ford commercials?

Does anyone remember around New Year's, the Ford commercials were advertising Zero financing. They were playing "Saved By Zero" over and over to make their point. I wonder if the guys got any royalties in return for the use of their lyrics?

There was a Toyota commercial about four years ago. I believe they did receive royalties. Here is the thread that Cy started:

    Red face

Thanks Dejapete for clarifying that it was a Toyota commercial. Wow I lost 4 years in my memory! I thought it was on the air about a year agao then again I don't watch that much T.V. I keep it running just for the sake of having some company.

    Stern:pay! like it or not!

Is anyone getting satellite radio because of Howard Stern? That's more than enough of a reason for me NOT to get satellite radio knowing that of the 14 bucks I pay Stern will get at least a dollar from me whether I listen to him or not.

There is a bunch of redundancy & crossover in satellite radio that I noticed the few times I looked into it at Best Buy.

I taped a 6 hour tape of Adult Alternative on digital cable TV’S Music Choice and that was enough for me to never listen again to this “eclectic” mix of the best. Who decides what the definition of this overused “cool” word “eclectic” is anyway? Who cares ? Music Choice’s Adult Alternative sucks.

OTLTA - heard it whilst on vacation in Michigan - in a Hunting Goods Store in the middle of BF nowhere. What a nice surprise to walk into the store and hear my favourite band blaring out over their sound system. Made shopping there very enjoyable.

Regarding the use of Fixx music in commercials as mentioned in the link from a few posts ago.... What exactly is the situation with the Fixx's music rights? Does anybody know why they may not own the copyrights or merchandising rights on some songs? Which songs? Anyone know what happened?

Thanks to Jack, I get to hear The FIXX on the radio in a great many places these days - always at an interesting moment too. Prolly hear them two or three timies a week - and I don't really listen to the radio very much at all..........it's awesome!

Once again, Cinta salon made me a happy girl today. Went for a cut - my hair guy (Noel Williams, a great Irishman!) gave me a shorter, sassier cut this time. He's one of the top guys in San Francisco and I'm always happy with his work, but the last two cuts this fall/winter have just been stellar.

Anyhoo, I scheduled one of those fancy delux spa manicures for after my cut, so I was there for quite a while today. They played a ton of great alternative and New Wave 80s - heard Eighties by Killing Joke, Come Back and Stay by Paul Young, some Prince (Finger-Prince? LOL!), and while I was getting my arm and hand massage, Don't Dream It's Over, followed by Saved by Zero...

Seems I always hear the boys when I go there for pampering. Bliss.

IS IT TIME FOR A SPRING TOUR YET???????????

    SIGH......

You pass like the moon in silence
    In the warm flooded air
Looking back to those lost opportunities
    So often missed or ignored
A thousand times I start heading for the dawn
Only to turn around and face this rue once more
There 's something ahead of you

Spring will come soon enough...You and Dave and anyone else near must catch some concerts with me this year.

I had forgotten to mention that after the Fixx concert in Bowling Green, I was at a convenience store near Stoughton, WI and the radio was playing a Fixx song. I couldn't help from saying..."I saw them last night!"

Then to break the blank stare, I said..."and a pack of Winstons, too".
