    Question 'Roger And Out' lyrics

Can anyone confirm for me that these are, word for word, the actual lyrics to Roger And Out? Please suggest any corrections. Cheers...

No more Roger, Roger and out
    No more Roger, Roger about
No more Roger, Roger and out

    He left his house
    Left his car
    Left his job
    Let his demons out

No more Roger, Roger and out
    No more Roger, Roger about
No more Roger, Roger and out
    No more Roger...

    He made his mark
    Left his stain
    Changed his future
    Killed his pain

    What is he thinking?
    What is he searching for?
    Where is he heading?
    “Open sesame”, the door
Had chains replaced his regal wings?
On the rock the siren sings
Raised his glass, “let the games begin”
    Stories on the changing wind

    So why is he laughing?
    Why is he under foot?
    Where is he heading?
    “Open sesame”, the door
    Reminded of his inner sins
Does God exist in a “Hollywood ending?”
    Lose the plot, lose everything
Get the hell out before the sky falls in
    (...sky falls in)

(Get the hell out before the sky falls in)

Oh, no more Roger, Roger and out
    No more Roger, Roger about
No more Roger, Roger and out
    No more Roger, Roger about

    No more Mr. Persistent
    No more inconsistence
    No more, no more

I think "Why is he under foot"
could be "Why is on the floor"
    because floor rhymes with door.

    "No more inconsistence" could be
    "No more inconsistent"
    because it rhymes with persistent.
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy

dejapete: Thank you for your reply... yes, I agree, it does sound like "on the floor." Often when transcribing lyrics, what you 'hear' becomes fixated in your mind and it's not until someone else points out the obvious that it does becomes so obvious. And, to be honest, that was the only phrase I wasn't sure about. I put in "inconsistence" because I was sure I could hear Cy pronounce the "...ce" on the end, but you're right, "inconsistent" would certainly be more lyrically sensible. I also think "raised his glass" is actually "raise his glass".

Since I can no longer edit my original entry above, here are the amended lyrics for anyone, who, like me, thinks this is the best track on Want That Life (it seems to me to have that 'classic' Fixx sound to it...).

    Thanks again...

    No worries, Ray!

    Rodney:
I take it your CD didn't come with lyrics?
    US pressings did.

    Hi Steve, how's things?

Yes, I do have the U.S. release (are there others?) but as you'll be aware throughout the history of The Fixx, Cy has often sung varying lyric lines from those given with the albums.

I was just trying to detail exactly what Cy actually sang for the record, well, for this one particular track, anyway.

    Cheers, mate...

And besides...The "Why is he laughing?" part isn't printed with the lyrics.
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy

    While we're being picky...

If you listen carefully before the guitar solo, Cy whispers, "sky falls in".

Near the end of the solo he whispers again, "before the sky falls in".

    It sounds pretty cool.

edit: Oops. I guess Rodney heard it too. I can't hear the "get the hell out" part, though. At any rate, I like it.

Just wanted to say that I submitted the lyrics to "Roger and Out" on lyrics sites today, and I just now found this thread. You guys seemed to have gotten different lines for the stuff not in the lyrics booklet.

For the first part not in the booklet, I got:

    "So why is he lurking?
Why is he on the floor?
    Where is he heading?
    "Open sesame," the door"

And for the second part not in the booklet:

    "No more distant persistent
    No more inconsistent
    No more, more"

I just wanted to post my interpretation. Could be wrong :P
