David Bowie - Future Legends/Diamond Dogs

    anyone remember that one??

Or how about "T Rex" - Bang A Gong - Jeepster

I have an older sister that listened to a lot of Diana Ross & The Supremes when I was very young - a LOT of good music there.

Oh and let us not forget - Stevie Wonder!!! All of his stuff was great! But I think my favorites were - Boogie On Reggae Woman - and - Livin' For The City - and the timeless classic - Superstition!

Wow, funny how mention of one song can trigger an avalanche of connected songs for someone....

Robert Palmer's I Didn't Mean to Turn You On was cool...and he covered Todd Rundgren's Can We Still Be Friends, but that one's best heard in its original form.

Robert's "Johnny and Mary" was incredible, and was the end of a style for him...

I loved his cover of Todd's cover of Berlin's cover of Devo's cover of the Rolling Stone's cover of "Can't Get Me No..No Satisfaction".

Oh wait, TRS did the original... <grin>

One of the songs me and my sister used to always call the local radio station and request was "Zanzibar" by Billy Joel. We also would ask for "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen but then we got the 45. I took it to school in 2nd grade and played it during music class... the whole class really looked at me funny after I played that one... LOLOLOL... I also remember bringing the 45 of "Call Me" by Blondie to school... that was very popular, so everybody thought I was cool for bringing it... I have an image of all these little 2nd graders singing along to that.

I also loved "Hey Bulldog" by the Beatles, my sister used to play that album (Yellow Submarine, was it?) a lot. I remember liking Barry Manilow's "Jump Shout Boogie" too... loved jumping up and down to that one... he was HUGE in those days.

Gary Numan... he was my first musical crush... LOL saw a video concert of his in Record Bar and thought he was hot... never could get into some of his music though, "Cars" was about the best I heard.

BANG A GONG (GET IT ON) was and still is one of my all time favorites. I played that POWRE STATION tape til' the little spong that pick up the music rubbed away. I just wish they had done more albums.
Sad to see Robert Palmer pass away,
    I loved his music.
But the song that put me in that 80's theme-synth rock/new wave was "I RAN"(SO FAR AWAY) by A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS...
and the rest is BIG HAIRstory!!!

Funny thing though, I still want to get up and dance to disco music...but I was 12 by 1980...oh well!
