    mayfly review...

    please pardon me if someone already put this up here somewhere.....

    The Mayfly’s alternately moody, rocking -- and intensely melodic -- tracks were recorded between 1991 and 1994 in Los Angeles. Curnin composed all the songs, except the title track, a co-write with Stuart Zaltz. Assisting on the album are Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward and keyboarder Bill Champlin (Chicago, Sons of Champlin).

    An unassuming album, The Mayfly is a consistent, well-proportioned piece of pop craftsmanship–no mean feat these days.

    The complete tunestack for The Mayfly:

    * "Traded the Wind for Gold"
    * "Mayfly"
    * "When Push Comes to Shove"
    * "Days of Our Lives"
    * "I’m Getting Out"
    * "Breathe with Me"
    * "I Should be So Lucky"
    * "Unshakable Faith"
    * "Day to Day"
    * "Suburban America"

    I'm really liking "Suburban America", with its soft synth strings and spanish-style guitar. Good stuff. Also, listen to the way Cy sings "I Should Be So Lucky" - it's reminiscent of Silent House. I'm sorta glad that Mayfly is a different version here. I do like the original - a lot in-fact - but it's great to get a fresh version of it here, even if it is slower. I swear I hear Jamie on a couple of tunes..he is on this album, correct?

    Looks like lunch at Best Buy today.
