It was an excellent show! The song selection was great and I was very happy with the performance.

There was, however, one major problem: some shirtless troll-mutant was hogging space up near the stage. The guy must have been from Wisconsin. That, and the fact that we had to sit through two opening bands, was a drag.

But the band more than made up for the weirdness....

Too many opening bands have been a problem at club gigs. I sat through three at a Blue Oyster Cult concert. The entire crowd was really mad. I assume the venue does that to sell more booze. One opening band is great, but two or three is showing a lack of repect for the fans. I wouldn't want to be in the second or third band.

I had been to a Fixx concert before--in the same venue--and hadn't run across the issue with the opening bands. I agree with your statement that it is likely a way to see more alcohol.... The bands were not bad, but their music (industrial rock and rock/blues, respectively) did not complement the Fixx. Plus, it was a Sunday night, and it pushed the start time of the Fixx show to nearly 11 pm. Ouch.
