    "arrested by you"

i actually think that song is bloody awful.

nothing personal. maybe it's the lyrics?

"i've been arrested by you/take me in"

    the music's ok...

    fantastic movie, tho.

Good point. And what do you know, MODyssey dropped-out of the compilation. He had some family issue to attend to. So, now we can truly say it's a 100% Fixx tribute.

I've heard five of the songs so far. And all are great. The rest are on the way soon. Perhaps, I'll have the website up and going by mid-August with some sound clips and the beginning of Sept for sure.

    Cheers,

    Randall

This sounds awesome...i'm pretty stoked to hear this...I totally dig the synth scene...I can thinkg of a band called, "the bravery" who would probably sound awesome doing a fixx cover...also,"tribeca"....maybe even "the faint"..Cause To Be Alarmed would be an awesome song to cover.....
I normally hate tribute albums cause I feel like they murder great music, but this one sounds interesting....huh...

Getting 'the faint' would be great. Perhaps I'll send them an email today.
I just got in 'saved by zero' and 'stand or fall'. Both are great. While some of the covers will take our favorite Fixx songs in new directions, most stick close to the structures of the originals. And with a few female vocalists on board, things are shaping-up to be very interesting.

I'm expecting five more songs in the next few weeks. Then we'll be ready to go into production!

    More info soon,

    Randall

    The Fixx Tribute: UPDATE

Just a quick note to let everyone know the status of our tribute album.

It's titled: The Fixx: An Electronic Tribute

Nine of the tracks are completed. The remaining songs will be arriving in the next four to five weeks. Gene Loves Jezebel in contributing 'Red Skies'. Should be cool. And a few late entries are joining the effort next week. So there should be no shortage of material to choose from.

Look for an update in a few weeks. I'll have the dedicated site all finished-up and ready to go.. Complete with band bios, sound clips from all tracks and ordering information.

    Cheers,

    Randall

This is cool! I'm interested to hear the results.

Have you had any feedback from the band, themselves?

Gene Loves Jezebel - a fine band from my neck of the woods in Wales, Michael Aston is a real star, great guy, had the pleasure of spending some hours in his company a few years ago at a wedding I attended, one thing puzzles me though - this is an electronic tribute to the Fixx, - Gene Loves Jezebel - electronic? If I'd known the field was open to bands from other genres, then would have approached Flood to contribute a track.

I'm planning on sending the finished compilation to the band once ALL the tracks are in. I'll trust they'll find some value in it :-) Sure it's hard to beat Cy's vocals... but we're going to attempt to re-interpret the songs in a new and exciting way. Some of the artists have changed chord progressions. And others don't stray from the originals. Eitherway, I really feel that most fans will appreciate this effort. Already, the tracks that have come-in have been well produced. I expect the rest to follow the lead.

Ohh, forgot to respond to the Gene Loves Jezebel comment. Yep, I thought the album would be all electronic. But when Michael expressed an interest in the project, how could I say no? So, if Flood wants on, let's talk. He's only one of my favorite producers around. :-)

Astromill (UK) is doing "are we ourselves". Should be good. And recently, Joey from The Echoing Green (New Mexico) has agreed to lend vocals to "Stand or Fall". It will be a bonus remix "clubby" track on the compilation.

The art is taking shape in the next three weeks. It's getting close!!!

Flood as in the guy who produced Depeche's Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion? COOL!

And let's not forget his involvement with a ton of Erasure's albums.

    Flood

Hi guys, spoke with Da from Flood last night, it's looking unlikley that they'll be involved, (not that they don't want to) just with Nick leaving and the new frontman just coming on board, time constraints in booking the studios as Sonic One would make it a near impossible target to meet, will have more definite news tonight though, once phone calls have been made. Randall, can you e.mail me asap and let me have the technical / studio requirements so that if we get a yes answer, then at least I'll have things to hand, also a complete list of submitted tracks.

that's funny, The Faint almost was aboard for this project. But new album stuff came-up... I had my fingers crossed.

The site for this project is now up: www.fixxtribute.com

All but three songs have sound samples. The remaining tracks are on their way in. Check 'em out. Preorders are now possible. The album should be out around December is all goes well.
