Thread: New Fixx CD - DiscLive DALLAS!

  1. #31

    Re: EXCELLENT disc!

It is a 2 disc set, but all the songs could have easily fit on one disc. I think they just put it on 2 discs to market it better.
Actually I think it's put on 2 discs so they can manufacture it faster. Not knowing if a show goes over 74 minutes/rather safe than sorry, they go to disc two when they feel it's a good moment to switch, and they can already begin duplicating the first half of the show while they record the second half.
That's one of my unedjumacated guesses.

We discussed the possibilty last year of recording every show. My other guess would be that this won't be the one and only DISCLIVE...
    We'll see.

    Shhh... patience

I ordered "Little River Band - Live in Addison, TX 5.15.05 " from DiscLive a few weeks ago. First to see if shippment works to germany (it does, cause got the CD today. But to be honest, thought it got lost...). Second I needed a nice surprise or gift for my uncle who thinks he got everything from LRB...

2 Disc-Set, 16 songs, 8 songs on one disc, Running-Time about 47 minutes every disc. Cover-Artwork is nothing special but totally okay for a record like this. But the importand thing: It sounds brilliand!

If the Fixx-DiscLive-CD sounds like LRB, then it must be excellent. Can't wait to hear it. What a nice new Collectors-Item this must be. And the two brand new songs are on this cd...

Hope to get my copies soon!

The Dallas show was FANTASTIC! Although it was really super hot, the band outperformed themselves yet once again!

I loved the meet and greet afterwards, it's so nice that they will do that for their fans!

    Great great show!

The CD does sound very good.
Cy is crystal clear all the way through. Adam and Rupert are crystal as well. Somehow Jamie gets lost after How Much Is Enough and when he comes back in (during Fatal Shore) it is muffled. The actual mix at the show was PERFECTO so the mixing of the disc was clearly a separate venture.

Probably 500-600 people for the Fixx show. Then the Knack came on. Hate to say it but there were almost as many people waiting for the DiscLive CD and talking with the Fixx off to the far right as there were people watching The Knack. The Knack only had about 200-300 folk. The Fixx were CLEARLY the bigger draw. The Knack did sound outstanding however - very tight. (and their new drummer kicks arse).

Sorry I got way off topic there.

Yeah, get the DiscLive CD. Each disc is numbered like an artist's reproduction. The two NEW songs ARE ON IT!
    Nice little gem.

    How is this show recorded?

From the sound board like "Stage One" or is it done the traditional way?

It was definately done from a sound board - although not the same board that mixed for the audience.

    really, The Knack were good?

I left 2 min. after the Knack hit the stage-I guess I mis-judged. Maybe they just took some time warming up. But, Yeah, the Fixx were awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    FROM ZACH AT DISCLIVE

    Hey There,

We are doing a full multitrack mix for units that will be shipped home to people who didn't attend the show. I believe you will be VERY impressed.
The onsite mix was indeed a board and also ambient mics, but it came out well.

Also we are engaging with the FIXX for several more dates of limited edition live discs and this will go on sale tomorrow. The dates are as follows:

    August 4 Sacramento, CA Fandango's
August 5 Santa Cruz, CA Beach & Boardwalk
August 6 Portland, OR Crystal Ballroom
August 11 Hermiston, OR Umatilla County Fair
August 12 Seattle, WA The Fenix Underground
August 13 Edmonds, WA Taste of Edmonds

This is a great band to work with and we give many thanks for the reception by the FIXX fans, band and management!
