Calm Animals is my fave...I have so many favorites from that LP...Subterranean...Cause to Be Alarmed, and the title track being the most noteworthy. RTB and Walkabout are 2nd and 3rd for me also.

Awesome! I'm a big Calm Animals fan. Phantoms is my *current* favorite (I've given up having an all-time favorite; sometimes it's Reach The Beach, sometimes Calm Animals..ah to hell with it!).

My standout tracks are Driven Out, Subterranean, The Flow, and World Weary. Solid, solid album. Cause To Be Alarmed is perhaps the weakest track, and thankfully last on the CD, but it's still a good Fixx song. The bonus track Never Mind What You Leave Behind is my least favorite from that era.

And how about the "Tomorrow Never Knows"-esque drums on Gypsy Feet, eh? Very nice.

    Cool Ink

I believe "Ink" has gotten a bum rap over the years for its "commercialism." I think the first seven songs on this disc measure up to any of their others. Yes, "Falling in Love" is un-Fixx-ish, especially with it's mainstream lyrics, but the four songs preceding it are sweet. I don't think the fans were too disappointed with "All Is Fair," "How Much Is Enough?" and "Shut It Out" from the recent shows. My favorite song of theirs all-time, though, if I could put in my two bits is, hands down, "Driven Out." Hence, the ID name "Castaway."

Ink has definately taken a beating by some fans and most critics. I think its a great album too. Don't worry though there's plenty of Ink lovers out there.

Nice choice for user name. Driven Out is in my top 10 of Fixx tunes. It rocks hard. I'm glad they still play it live with all its energy and such.

    Cheers

    Favorite Album

Although I like every single song they have come out with, and all albums are great in their own special way, there is something desirably different about Phantoms.....

Agreed. Phantoms has always been my fave. Want That Life came real darned close to knocking it out of first on the fave list for me, but Phantoms is just so - like you say - desirably different.

I also have a soft spot for Phantoms. Still haven't heard Ink and Walkabout yet, so I have to reserve judgement for now...

    want that life

i really like the new album..i love touch and no hollywood ending. i like the fixx because they are honest...they dont bs. its ashame that people dont appreciate them more...i have gone to many of their concerts and they are never the headliners...such a sad world we live in... i hope this does not discourage them because many of us admire them for their honesty and not giving up....i know i do-

    favorite fixx

How unfair to have to choose!

For me it would be Happy Landings. Although it's tough to choose between that and Elemental because they have a lot of the same songs (I guess that's why HL&LT isn't in the running) but I prefer the versions on HL. The only thing that would make Happy Landings more perfect for me would be if "Silent House"
    was on it.

(My second favorite is Walkabout so i voted for that one)

cygnet....I Agree withyou about 'silent house' .. that is my favorite on elemental... there is something so haunting about the lyrics... very emotional and touching ...and Cy's vocals are so powerful .. truley expressive ..,I can almost feel the pain of emotion... makes me wonder if he was possibly having marital troubles at that time... ...hope not.

I can rank the studio albums easily enough, but even the albums I rank at the bottom are GREAT. Phantoms and Reach the Beach are almost interchangable in rank.

    1)Reach the Beach
    2)Phantoms
    3)Shuttered Room
    4)Walkabout
    5)Elemental
    6)Want That Life
    7)Ink
    8)Calm Animals

I love Walkabout too ... as for Elemental, I think you just need to give it a few more listens! Most Fixx songs are an acquired taste. The first time I listened to Happy Landings, I was disappointed; I told my hubby I'd just listened to a Fixx album that didn't sound anything like the Fixx. Now it's my favorite album- absolutely IRREPLACEABLE !!!
...not trying to argue though...we all have different opinions and tastes...
