    New person

    Hello, everyone!

I'm Greg and I just found this board. Everyone here
seems nice and way into the Fixx. Which I understand,
after me and my partner Dave saw them last month. I am
a pretty slow typist and usually don't have much to
say so I probably won't post often. But I was catching
up by email with an old school pal a few weeks ago and
wrote the story of my first Fixx gig (we all loved
them in school). It took me forever to type all this,
so I might as well share it with more than just one
    person! Here it is.

    ----------------------------
    We just saw the Fixx!

We live in San Francisco now and had a long weekend in
Tahoe recently. We wondered if there was any decent
music going on up there. We looked at some listings
and didn't see anything we liked, but Dave noticed the
Fixx was playing at Fandango's in Sacramento that
Thursday night, so we decided, what the heck, let's
see em. Dave liked them in the 80s too, but neither
one of us saw a concert by them. We decided to get a
hotel near the club and then go on to Tahoe the next
    morning.

We got to the club and there was this big bus outside.
Must be the Fixx bus. We wondered if they're inside it
staying cool. It was a gazillion degrees outside and
doors were supposed to be at 7:30, but they weren't
letting anyone inside. We were dying for air
conditioning, but all the sudden we heard music start
up. The security guy told us it was still sound check
so it was going to be a while. They sounded really
good, even from outside. We left for a while and got
back in time to see a few songs by the opening band
which COMPLETELY BLEW. Turns out it was a gazillion
degrees inside the club too. We sat in back near the
restrooms and played our favorite sport, *****y queen
people watching. GI-normous was the word of the night.
There were GI-normous people there wearing stuff they
had outgrown in high school. (Hey I'm not stick thin
anymore but people, please. Buy clothes that FIT!) A
guy had on a shirt that said GIRLS SUCK in GI-normous
letters, then in small letters, it said Bless Their
Hearts. We wanted one for us gay guys. This woman was
wearing a shirt with a crystal THE FIXX written across
her GI-normous *****. She had this old camera around
her neck and we joked she couldn't see to change the
film because of them. We saw plenty of bimbos with
GI-normous amounts of makeup on there with some
average joe looking guys. There was a couple next to
us that were missing some teeth, and others who looked
like they were bikers. Strange crowd. We started
wondering how much hair and teeth the Fixx had left,
and whether they had also become GI-normous. The
    horrid opening band FINALLY ended.

A few minutes later, the Fixx came on and it was clear
they'd passed the years well. No one wore anything
that was wrong for them and except for the bass player
there was plenty of hair to go around. The singer
still had plenty of GI-normous teeth, too. All still
looking pretty fit. Dave said damn, the singer's
hotter than I remember. He was never my thing, but
I'll admit he's improved over the years for sure. So
Dave's going on about Mr. Hottie Pants singer, and I'm
watching the guitar player. He's more my type.
GI-normous hands and gi-normous amounts of hair. Still
really thin and cute, but not a Pretty Boy anymore
like in the 80s. Time has been good to them both. So I
told Dave he could do the singer if I could do the
guitar player! But before too long we were distracted
by how good this band was SOUNDING. They played some
songs we didn't know and some they said were new. They
were all good. Then they got to the hits and things
just took off. Mr. Hottie Pants singer didn't miss a
note all night and the guitar player was awesome. This
bimbo climbed up on the stage and it looked like
others were going to try to follow. Lots of singing
along by the strange crowd. Really good vibe. It was
one of the best shows we've seen in a long time. As we
left afterward we were commenting on how they should
be playing in big places because they have that big
sound and presence. We were impressed that they gave
their best to a tiny weird crowd in a dumpy bar in a
Sacto suburb. We said it was kinda sad too. They
    deserve more.

We left the club wanting food and ate before heading
to the Hampton Inn. There in the parking lot was a
tour bus. It had to be the same bus, I said. Sad that
the Fixx were staying at the Hampton Inn. They should
be at the Fairmont or Four Seasons or something. At
least a regular Hilton. Dave said maybe it was the
opening band bus. We parked and started walking to the
front door, and noticed off to the side of the
building the Fixx guitar player was taking a cozy
looking stroll with that woman with the GI-normous
*****! I felt a little jealous and joked Dave that he
should go on ahead inside and see if he could find the
singer, that I'd be in later. Dave's like, give it up
Greg, while patting my flat chest. You don't stand a
    chance. Damn!

    -----------------------

We're still talking about the show and telling
everyone to see the Fixx when they can. Great show by
a hot band. Can't beat that!

    Thanks for reading. Greg

    Hi Greg,

    Welcome aboard!

One thought, though - it may not be the best idea to call out fans as, for instance, "bimbos".

I'm sure several forum members were at the concert in question - you may be inadvertantly insulting one or more good folks here.

    Peace.

    GGGreg....LOVED your story!
Don't know if anyone was offended...but it was at least an entertaining piece that shows how great The Fixx is!
So glad you're appreciating their beauty....inside and out!
They have a lot to love! As a gal, I sure agree they haven't let time stand in their way.....they seem to transcend it.....mind, body, and soul!!!!!

    Cool

Ok, not to offend, but I feel like I just read a fashion comentary, what about the music GG? I do agree that Cy and Jamie are something to look at, but what about the MUSIC? Did you enjoy it at all? My advice, quit looking at the GI-normous people and enjoy yourself and the EXCELLENT music.

Welcome to the message board GGGreg and thanks for joining us.

That woman with the crystal "The Fixx" written across the "GI-normous *****" was one of our very own. She's probably one of your neighbors.

    Small world eh?

Welcome to The Fixx forum, sorry if you thought it was a Duran Duran forum.

I personally took offense at reading of Sir Cy Curnin being referred to as "mr. hottie pants"....and all the other commentaries made at people. These are good people here.

I've not been here since Day One of the forum's opening, but I believe this is the first time I've had to to read about loyal fans being trashed strictly for the way they look. It's rude.
I am the winner in any event.

I'll bet GGGreg feels like a GI-normous maroon..... (or he should!). As soon as I read "San Francisco" I thought, uh oh!!

    OOPS, Gggreg...major faux pas, sweetie!

I agree wholeheartedly with The Queen! And Cyn!

And Pippi--I think you always look fabulous and fashionable (and I'm envious of your GI-normous *****)!

We Jamie fans, and Fixx fans stick together! No diss-ing, please!

    Hey Diamond!
You know, I'd wondered that myself...LOL!
Libby was tickled by this old guy that came in recently--picking out floral art and he kept saying--
"that's tough" "really tough". Florals, hee!

    QA

I wasn't the girl in the GI-normous shirt - I was the bimbo, remember? I think he was offended by my tartan.

Although I do have wonderful breasts.

It wasn't the shirt that was GI-normous, it was her titties

She has asked to remain known only to those who already know.
