    Fixxture Voices

I thought I would add a Fixxture Voices thread to compliment our Fixxture Faces thread.

Most of us, at one time or another in our lives, have been in front of a microphone. This is the thread where you can share your voice with your Fixxture friends by posting a sound file here. You will need to upload the file to a web server. If you do not have a web server then PM me and I'll offer up to 4 Meg of web server space.

I came across this recording the other day and figured "what the hell, I'll go ahead and share it".

    Steve Singing

    Setting the scene...

I was in this singing group at my church when I was a teenager. We had become fairly popular to the point where the service we sang at was always packed. We decided to put on a concert. It was August of 1980 and I was only 15 but here I am in front of about 400 people doing a solo. You can tell I'm nervous as hell but that's OK. 25 years later - I can look back and laugh, and I invite you to laugh along with me

Backing me up are Bob Burnham on acoustic guitar and background vocals

    Julie McGlaughlin on background vocals

Dave Corbello and Tracy Schneider on flute

Cool! I've always liked that song. And you did just fine for a nervous guy! Thanks for sharing this - the thread's a great idea! Wish I could add to it, but I don't have my one moment at the mike on tape. It was the national anthem in front of 8000 basketball fanatics at the last home game of my senior year in high school. (Yeah, really 8000. Basketball is Indiana's state religion - the crowds are always big.)

    Steve!!!

    *applause applause applause*

You sound wonderful, and I don't hear any nervers either. This is one of my more favorite songs of all time, and I'm always hoping more people will sing it.

    Thank you! what a treat.

The thread for Fixxture Voices is a great idea, good thinking!
I am the winner in any event.

    Bravo Steve! You sounded great!

25 years ago... oh my, how time flies.

So how's the ol' voice aged?

Oddly enough, my voice sounds nearly idenitical to when I was 14. I can still hit those Steve Perry notes! Now, if I can only screw up the courage to tape and post me singing like you did! :gulp:

That was great Steve. But, I think I'm gonna have to be pretty toasty before I put my rendition of Harper Vally PTA in.

Not well. I can't hold a note nearly as well now as I could then.

Thanks for all the kind words folks. I'm hoping some of you will add to the thread.

Hey, Steve! Imagine me sitting at 2.30 in the morning with a glass of wine before going to bed and enjoying your singing.

    Bravo and thanks for sharing!

    this should be great!

Thanks to Steve for this great idea... and for all his help in getting this to work for me...

    shora sings

A little background on this... in our infinite wisdom *cough* the music director at my church and myself (associate music director) decided to record a Christmas Cd with all of our choir groups... the adults, teens, youth, contemporary group. As is the way with many of the artsy people I know, we couldn't coordinate schedules until the last possible weeks. And at the time, our teen group baled on us. We were three days away from having to send the master for duplication and we were minus three tracks. So, shora to the rescue... *giggle* I snagged two tracks I'd sequenced for another group I work with ( I love my Korg Triton.. all the instrumentation you hear is me having a good time playing with my toy!) and we recorded two of me solo. The week after Thanksgiving, at 10pm at night and in two takes. You'd never believe I actually do this for a living after hearing this... there are so many yucky spots, but hey... I thought it would be fun to share. Besides, it's one of my favorite contemporary Christmas songs...

have a little giggle right along with me...
