    other bands we love

I'm at work and a little bored. Just wondering what other stuff you guys all like when you're not listening to the Fixx.

I'm limiting my answer to 5 other bands:

    1. Neil Finn with or without Crowded House
    2. Roland Orzabal with or without Tears for Fears
    3. Toad the Wet Sprocket
    4. Sting and the Police
    5. Talk Talk

Those are the groups I really love to listen to the most. Oh, I left out my own group "The Ficks". We really rock too!!!!

Have a good weekend everyone. Rest up for Oshkosh, boys!!

I guess this is a bit of a mixed bag, but:-

    (in no order)

Saga (there has been ALOT of talk about The Fixx, over at www.saga-world.com)
Cold Chisel (Aussie pub rock at it's best!!)
    Toto
    The Tubes (WPOD!!)
The Divine Comedy (I don't exactly why, but something just clicks!!)

    Cold Chisel

would you believe it... Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel, also one of my all time favourite bands, Breakfast at Tiffany's - Goodbye Astrid Goodbye, some classic stuff.

Always on top of my CD pile anything by the following:
    Trisha Yearwood
    Cold Chisel
    Kristin Banks
    Catatonia / Cerys Matthews
    Flood
    Boxcar Willie - {yep}
    a-ha
    Roxette
    BA Robertson
Vaya Con Dios / Danni Klein
    any 80's compilations

Couldn't help noticing the Tears for Fears mention above, never been a fan, but must say about a cover version of Mad World that I've just heard, from the movie Donny Darko, the most haunting version of a song I've ever heard. E.mail me off the board if anyone would like the mp3.

    Coldplay
White Stripes (can't believe two people can make it rock!)

Hmm. What I listen to can change drastically from one day to the next, but some constants include:

Depeche Mode (esp. from Violator forward)
    Paul van Dyk
70s pop songs (happy childhood music)

Current favorites getting lots of "airplay" include Interpol's Turn On the Bright Lights, Bebel Gilberto's Tanto Tempo and Moby's Play.

The Music - Do these guys have a website? A Yahoo search yeilded 115 million sites.

Metric - All I could find on this was a band called Metric System from Alberta Canada.

White Stirpes - which of the four albums is best?

Evanescence - My teenager turned me on to these guys. They've got a big future ahead if they keep up the good work. I don't think there is ANY other hip-hop band with a female lead. Evanescence is the only supply for that demand.

    Cheers
    Steve

as for white stripes, I like good bits from each disc.
    evanescence, they're goth, not hip-hop

gee Steve not even a winky , hey I like what I like when I like it, tomorrow It might be Robert Johnson, or it might be Tool, or maybe something Guido turned me onto the night before. I admit not being a parent with teenagers around the house maybe does put me a bit at a disadvantage with being hip to new stuff, and I dont always spend enough time with the "hip" stuff

A few days waxing nostalgic with 70's music doesnt make for a handcuff, I if I had said Mozart or Strauss instead of Electric Light Orchestra would I still be musically chained to the past?
