I agree with fixxation....(except for the "doing" Tommy line)......they got to go on national television and play there music. I realize they were in and out of commercials but what a great way to end and start each piece of the show. Besides, I liked it even more that they got to play 5 songs periodically instead of just one song because we all know that it would have been a classic instead of a new one for the new album. At least they got to give the audience and little bit of a new song for all to hear. The only complaint I have is I was hoping they could have made a plug off the new song by saying this "is" a new song on a soon to be released new album. I do agree with you all though that the stupid comedian was a big waste of time and I thought he stunk up the place. Jamie and Cy sure could have used that time better for Kimmel's show. I also want to say a big thanks to the fixxtures in the crowd for making sure that when the Fixx were announced during the beginning credits, that they got a huge cheer!! It sounded great on TV. Also, one final note..........Tommy Lee is a very weird dude but give him some credit (even if you hate him) for acknowledging our boys in a respectful way. I even wonder deep down if Tommy's a fan of the Fixx. All in all.........Great Show!!!!!!!

miked....I totally agree!!!! I thought the same thing when Kimmel asked him if he knew Cy and Jamie and he said yes....it was kind of like "uh, yeah, let's get off this subject".....so I sure picked up on that! I would have loved to have been there in person to see if Cy and Jamie were smirking or laughing at Tommy Lee becuase he's so freaky! Anyone who went to the show know?

[B]I was happy see to THE FIXX on the show, but I couldn't help to think what was CY thinking. You had tommy lee talking like he was 13 and the comedian making jokes about porn. Was there any intelligence on the show!!!
At least somebody went back to get their education. It's too bad because CY is so cerebral and could have some conversation that depth and meaning behind it. Even beyond the fact that CY couldn't enlighten the audience or the viewers, what about time giving to let us hear them sing
a comlpete song or two or three. The viewers really miss out ....

I agree Completly with you....an Interview regarding the band and what they are up to and all Cy's humor and Jamies quiet intellect could have added so much more to the show( BUT LOOK AT WHO IS HOSTING.. THAT SHOULD GIVE A CLUE TO WHAT HIS MAIN FOCUS WOULD HAVE BEEN!) ... I also agree that Cy's body language was screaming......

I would have cut off Tommy Lee.. SEVERAL of the things he said were in VERY POOR TASTE!!!!!!!!*sigh*

BUT Then again.....on the other hand....

I am VERY grateful that they got the exposure .. as I have notice 2 new members on the board all ready .... SO THAT IS GREAT!!!!!!!!

so, as My Gma's favorite expression goes..... ALL is well.. that ends well.....

I think it would have been awesome if they would have bumped Tommy & that so-called comic. Keep the 98 year-old lady and have her rock out with TheFixx! ( she was dancing to one of their songs with the old security guy- uncle something) I could've cared les about Tommy and his pants, he has no rear! Anyways, I was happy with what I saw of them. Hey Steve, did you get any pics?

They should really try to get on Late Night With Conan O'Brien. Conan had U2 on thete one time and they practically took over the whole show, AND played 4 full songs! Maybe they can get Rupert, Adam, and Gary on there too, have them all on! I'm going to see if nbc.com has a suggestion section for Conana and put in my two cents worth! I know Conan would give them the proper reception!

Haven't had time to watch, but kinda wish it wasn't called the Fixx, since 3 members are missing. It's a foot in the door, though - to see the band (all 5) as a featured musical guest would be a great follow....I know Ed's working on it!

LOL!!!! I have actually found Tommy Lee very entertaining. I cannot say "cool" because there was that wife-beating incident. And folks, he is a good drummer. Not the best of course, but he is good. Like him or not!

Here's my take on the show last night...

All in all a great appearance because it conveyed that the band is still together and still playing live and it publicized the anthology cd and the DVD and that's what was most important.

    Now I'm gonna nitpick...

When Tommy Lee saluted towards the band I think it was most likely to the house band. When Jimmy asked him if he knew the Fixx his response seemed to me to be a bit unconvincing and obligatory 'yeah'. Which was the appropriate and polite thing to do. I got the idea he never met them and only recalled them from the 80's.

I wished the band could've publicized the website.

I wished the band could have been interviewed a bit.

In the opening filmed sequence, I believe The Fixx got the biggest round of applause, which was great.

I wished the show had picked a better picture for the opening sequence.. they went with a small pic of Cy's head instead of a picture of the band (of which there are many available on the net). Though Cy is the de facto leader, they should have shown the whole band. Along those same lines, I hated the thought that because of that pic choice and that because only Jamie and Cy appeared, people would get the idea that the original lineup is no longer intact.

I wished the band could've played a full song at the end. I understand the show thought that having them play with the band in between segments fit with the publicizing of the anthology, but... it might have given the false idea that they only came out of retirement to push the anthology. A new performance at the end of the show would have been treating them like any other CURRENT band.

The show was pretty bad other than the Fixx. Tommy Lee seems pleasant enough but he just doesn't have much to say other than what a 14 yr old boy would. Is he talented or engaging enough to warrant this level of fame? I imagined Cy and Jamie cringing having to hear about how he's already got a stadium tour lined up with Aerosmith for his new tv band which isn't even fully together yet. Doesn't seem fair in contrast that they are struggling just to publicize their smaller venues.

Jimmy either forgot or mispronounced Jamie's last name repeatedly. I think he said "Jamie West" at one point.

Cy looked bored with his folded arms a few times when the band was playing. But in his defense, what could he have done being stood there with nothing to do while they did their thing?

I can't believe they thought they would also have room for Matt Damon as a guest. The show was pretty full as it was. They should have ditched the Uncle Frank bit which is never funny. The 98 year old high school grad was also ridiculous. I got the feeling Jimmy didn't realize until half way through the interview that she hadn't actually gone back to school. She was just given an honorary diploma without doing a bit of work!! She looks great for 98 but how is an honorary diploma inspirational? Also, after Tommy Lee's interview, the comic's porn material just brought the show down even lower. A shame the Fixx couldn't have been scheduled on a different night.

Red Skies, Saved By Zero, One Thing, Secret Separation, Stand or Fall, Remember Me When I'm Gone were the song bits they played. Some just aired for a second or two coming in and out of segments. Anyone that was there want to give us a sense of the reaction to their songs during the breaks by the audience, Jimmy, Tommy, etc. ?

I liked Jimmy's comment on Cy and Jamie's youthful looking appearance and Cy's 'Formaldehyde' retort. I don't think Jimmy meant to be slamming them, to me it came off as a compliment. Tommy quickly interjected by waving 'Hi everybody' to get the focus back on him and ended any small talk between Jimmy and Cy and Jamie.

Jimmy was good at pushing the Cd and DVD and their upcoming date at Santas Cruz. That was the most important thing and was well done.
So all the preceding negatives don't really matter I guess. I hope it leads to more appearances where the whole band can appear and they can be treated like a current band.

I recorded and edited the appearance as a mpg file which includes all sights, sounds and references to the band during the show. It comes to a little over 6 minutes in all. Problem is the audio somehow got shifted by a second or two. If I can fix it I will post it sometime soon.

I m glad to see the guys on ANY national tv broadcast...

Too bad they didn't play a full song , after seeing the LAME guests, that wouldve been the life preserver that rescued a bad show...

Thanx for getting them on the tube Ed!!! Bravo...

Let's get on Leno's Christmas card list and promote the new cd and songs

    all the best

"They should really try to get on Late Night With Conan O'Brien"

I think Conan really is a big fan of the music, i remember when he had Joe Strummer on, and Conan said "Your not leaving here Joe, without playing London Calling!"

    and he graciously did!

u2 the Clash.... and the FIXX!!!
