    Thanks Cyence,Alannah and Char...
Really... I believe that knowledge of a subject does not always surpass simple observation... It is just what I observed and felt watching the video..

Same message the Fixx has been singing all these years.....

    Yes... I agree...

... Maybe, someday ... ( could as well be today)
    Saved by zero ... (O)
I'll be more together ... (1, eg. Whole)
    Stretched by fewer ... (-)
    Thoughts that leave me
Chasing utter ... (everything this busy life has to offer apart from O)
    My dreams disown me
    Loaded with danger ... (x ... disollusioned with this'everything', but O)
    Maybe I'll win
    Saved by zero(2x) ... (O)
    Holding onto
Winds that teach me ... ( 7, Meditation, Prayer, Observations within Nature)
    I will conquer
    Space around me ... (O)
    Maybe I'll win
    Saved by zero
    Maybe I'll win
Saved by zero ... (O) ... ... Inner Peace is our true objective in Life even if we don't realise it yet, but the accumulation of 'things' will only distract and dissatisfy until we acknowledge the Zen and purpose of O...

    Saved By Zero

Hi Queen, either or iether, reads the same to me and my lyrics say what they say as yours yours? ... No never mind so long as the objective is reached and the objective is of course Zero! ( At the very least Minumalist and Serene Within ) ... Mari(music) ...

    Hi Mari(music),

I am easily confused around here, so I gotta make sure no one is trying to do that again.

All the lyrics sites I go to swear the words are "chasing utter," but I was always sure Cy was singing "chasing after"... Then I got React, and the lyrics inside give it as "chasing after." I'll go with the latter.

"Chasing Utter" sounds as if he's trying to milk a runaway cow.

    Lightbulb A karaoke epiphany...

As I was singing "Saved By Zero" in the kitchen yesterday while making a TV dinner, I thought of something:

The lyrics, if you think about it, sound like they could be about Russian roulette as a metaphor for life - with all the excess "junk" in the material world (coveting riches, wanting fame, etc.) as the bullets that will ultimately be the end of us. And if there's no bullet in the next round, well..."Saved by zero." (I sure hope that makes some sense - I can't explain things clearly to save my life. )

Or, I could be way off base and - as my brother Ron puts it - out of my effin' mind. Either way, I'm still pretty sure it's about being at peace with oneself; being satisfied with, as Jeanne put it, "the magic that surrounds you." But hey - it's all in the interpretation, I suppose....

the more you have, the more you have to lose....

if you have nothing, you have NOTHING to lose !

all about the priorities- in a fire... while running out the door which thing to you grab to take with you? the kids or the jewels?

Cy said somethingto that effect about SBZero....

    That makes sense. Priorities...

Ah yes - and let it be noted, that though some people say I have a great voice, I'm not disillusioned to the point where I think I can sing.

I was just listening to an old radio interview Cy and Adam did with
"Red Beard" about the making of Reach The Beach, then I remembered this thread.

This is what Cy said about the meaning of Saved By Zero.

"saved By zero , to me, means that the less you have, the more chance you've got to move around in a way. If you've got nothing to lose yo don't have to worry about keeping your posessions. Obviously there's a balance within that, but the less you carry around, the lighter you are, the more adventurous you can be. It's just the idea of if you strip yourself back down, all your beliefs , the prejudice goes with it, and you can start to restrcture yourself in a way. We've loaded ourselves up as consumers so
much that we're trapped. And when the house is on fire, what do you take first? Some people , ya know, it's either they forget the children and take the jewelry. Under pressure you may make the wrong decision as to what is your greatest priority"

    hope it helps.
