    New Album?

I was on the Myspace website and it said something about a new album this year? That's awesome news.

"The Fixx will release a new studio album this year"

    This is only a guess.

I would say it is NOT coming out in the Summer.
But instead, sometime in the Fall.
And then the "November Tour" the band is planning would promote the new CD. Peek at the Tour Page here:

Ok it's pretty much September now. So is the album coming out this month or in October now?

The note on Cy's MySpace made it sound like there's a possibly smaller tour than originally planned in November - probably due to the Everest expedition.
If so, and the release is to be concurrent with a larger tour, we may need to be patient into 2008. This is just a speculation - I don't have details. Would love to learn that there won't be a delay.

Looks like Cy's new album is the goal for this year. Probably next week.

New album by The Fixx won't be any sooner than 2008.

Maybe it will be delayed till 2009. You never know with these albums these days.

So will the album be an early 2008 or a mid or late one now?

I would imagine that you are not going to get a definite answer until The band has one. They have been pretty consistent in communicating what they are hoping to do and accomplish. I doubt anyone is withholding any pertinent information about the next Fixx release purposely. The old cliche, "A watched pot never boils" may apply here.

I for one am just happy they are playing live dates, releasing podcasts and have updated websites. There was a time after Ink, that I thought I would never hear from my favorite band again.

Patience is a virtue. You will know when the new release is coming as soon as the band feels it is appropriate.

We were just treated to Cy's new CD, so I'm very happy with that, and I figure they will enjoy the holidays with their families like most of the rest of the world, so whatever they want to give us and whenever is fine with me....I am feeling very blessed at this time.

    Peace.
I am the winner in any event.

Has anyone thought what kind of direction they will go with this new album? Will it be the same as the last one or will they change style this time?

Kind of hoping for a little more depth and texture in the music of the next album. I distinguish the music from the lyrics. I enjoyed the last album, but for me the music just didn't seem to have that deep, colorful, energetic sound of the earlier material. Anyone who looks back on the posts knows I lean toward the "Phantoms" era. RTB through Calm Animals or Walkabout just seems to be the richest material. Elemental had some of that for me for sure. Just hope they don't hold back on all of those layers of texture and those little sounds that just seem to energize it. Lyrics are simply never a problem for this band. They would probably say they struggle with lyrics, but it sounds like they always know what they want to say.

This may be a bit controversial to say but I think that Shuttered Room through Walkabout was more confident. Heard it in a bit of Elemental and WTL and I want to hear it again. Speaking of confidence, I am not sure about that last opinion. Feel free to argue with me on that one.

This is a great post. Lets keep this thread stirring and let the band know we want to hear the new material. We want to hear it live.
