    Simple Minds

I was never a huge fan of Simple Minds in the 80's ,I was aware of them and enjoyed their music but not to the point of buying their albums.
But and its a big but........ how good is their stuff now I look back.

    I love the 80's.

Simple Minds have always been a Top 10 band for me. It's kinda sad that their most popular (and run into the ground) song is the one they didn't write. There is some real magic on the albums Sons and Fascination, New Gold Dream, and Sparkle In The Rain. Live In The City of Light showcases what an amazing live band they were, and they're still able to compose a new classic or two (as evidenced by "Stay Visible" on Black & White 050505). Charlie Burchill is one of my favorite guitarists (probably just ahead of Jamie, and just behind Alex Lifeson). I've seen SM get the 'A-ha treatment' by being slapped with the 'one hit wonder' label, which is really unfortunate. SM's body of work is just too impressive to ignore.

I came very close to buying their 2-CD compilation last year when I bought the Fixx's Ultimate Collection...need to re-focus on getting some of their stuff!
Maybe on course to the best yet!

    Simple Minds live

I got to see them open for INXS in 2002, and they were outstanding! I was thrilled as I am a fan of Simple Minds so I got two great bands for the price of one! Fifth row too. Jim Kerr is so animated much like Cy. I would recommend catching them if you get a chance.
