Hey Shoey, is that in comparison to other auto manufacturers? I bet sales for everyone are down; the real test is who's down the farthest. I doubt the ad campaign has hurt them any more than they already would have been.

Maybe on course to the best yet!
You are correct, Carrie. All automakers are hurting.
The headline I saw stated that both Toyota and Ford had suffered decreases, without specifying any other manufacturers.
Then I dug deeper, and discovered the following losses for the month of October:
*General Motors---down 45%
*Chrysler---down 35%
*Nissan---down 33%
*Ford---down 30%
*Honda---down 25%
*Toyota---down 23%
So at least Toyota wasn't as hard-hit as some of the others....
I don't "go through channels." I dig my own....
Wow, you guys are fickle.
I saw the commercial and I thought. Cool! Really Cool.
I thought great money making opportunity for the band. Does it lessen what I originally thought of the song or the Fixx? Not at all.
In fact people will hear that and some of these people may of forgotten about the Fixx then go...hmmm....I used to like that song.......hmmm....I used to like the Fixx...........maybe I will buy one of their cds.
I loved seeing the commercial. And I am from Detroit.....I am ok with it. Congrats Fixx!
Here's a new article about the upcoming shows in Vegas, plus some comments on Saved By Zero ...

Hehehe...cute...drives...get it?![]()
Wonder if we'll get to hear any brand new songs at the shows?!? I'm "in suspense"! Can't wait to see what light Saturday sheds on it all!
Maybe on course to the best yet!
I just joined this.It seems they've overplayed it a bit and annoyed people? Well then they should not watch so much tv.
here
I think the version of the song is crappy, but it's great that the song was so popular that they are using it 25 years later in a major television commercial. Did you ever think that was possible when Saved By Zero was on the charts? It's iconic!![]()

I like that view of it. Iconic.Originally posted by fixxfanatic

Although yeah, the vesion on the ad doesn't hold a candle to the original. Not at all...
I didn't realize this stuff was making waves... the first time I heard the spot, I said, "Yeah, the Fixx!" But after a few times hearing it, they could've done the music a lot better. Anyway, I think the negative hype is exaggerated... but see links below.

Was really disappointed that they didn't use the original. Whoever did that version needs to be kicked in the nads.![]()
It woulda been beyond kewl to have the original like that Lending Tree commercial did; we can't always get what we want, so when it comes on I just think of the original and tune the newer one out (think fingers in the ears like a little kid).
But hopefully people will find out who did the original and give our guys their due!![]()

This will sound strange, but imho, i'm not sure that people watching the commercial will pick up on the fact that it is a remake of a Fixx song (at least not from the way it was played/sung). Of course, Fixx fans are going to be acutely aware of what it is...
my two cents'
At any rate, i'm a Honda fan.![]()
mostly harmless, mostly into cats
Looks like Toyota has discontinued the "Saved By Zero" campaign at this point.
The TV ads I've seen for them the past week or so feature the Tundra and the Camry, but without the use of a jingle of any kind......
