    About fell off my chair

I was attending a service at Unity of Phoenix, last Sunday, and my pastor is giving this very moving sermon about “ Imagining the possibilities” of your dreams and often it is our own fears that keep us stuck in not obtaining the dreams of our lives. You must be a risk taker in life, to imagine the infinite possibilities of our imaginations and creativity, and no matter what the outcome, there is no such thing as failure. He concludes this service by stating.. “ I don’t often quote song lyrics in my sermons, but ‘ships are safe in the harbor, but that’s not what ships are built for.” Seriously, I almost fell out of my chair.

I cornered him afterwards, and we had a good laugh over our “kindred spirit” musical taste.

It is true… there are Fixx fans everywhere.
You pass like the moon in silence
    In the warm flooded air
Looking back to those lost opportunities
    So often missed or ignored
A thousand times I start heading for the dawn
Only to turn around and face this rue once more
There 's something ahead of you

    very cool- very

On staff we have one Fixx fan- pastor. We both play our music in our offices and nobody minds. We even had a KISS fan- pastor a few years ago- a Navy Chaplain now. But to hear Fixx lyrics quoted in a sermon- wow, Jeanne.

I don't know what I just said or why.

I'm not sure the exact title of that Fixx tune ?... the only time i ever heard it was when it was on the playlist ...and i thought what a great tune . I have never seen it on any lp or cd either , and have been wanting to ask about both . Guess this is the time to ask ...wonder if thats where they got the idea of the song too, from the fortune cookie... . Would love to hear it again . Hope everyone is doing well. gregory

Pastor-dude said he was quoting a song- I wonder if those lyrics are in other songs. Well, Jeanne talked shop with him afterward anyway.

    Great picture, 1002

The Fixx have a title now for their upcoming album: Fortune Cookies (I'm starting a rumor).

Well. Now that Cary has unleashed the secret, I must divulge. It's a select list of songs, all with fortune cookie themes that will be on an upcoming collection entitled Fortune Cookies. They are selling this compilation CD to finance their new album project.

A ship in harbor is safe -- but that is not what ships are built for.
