    DING!!!!! Question???????

On 'Follow That Cab' I used a small sample from an earlier Fixx track.

Any idea what the sound is? What it sounds like? What it might be called? How it was made?

Any idea which track it came from?

I'm not offering any prizes, but this might be fun!!

Oh, the band and Nick don't know about this either!!! Tee Hee!!

    yours mysteriously

depending on the response, there will be further clues.......and information

Would I be on track if I said it came from the song "Reach the Beach"?

    point of interest...

there have been precious few moments in the studio when I have a feeling that 'this is important'.

one of the few.... during the mixing of 'Saved by Zero'..... major chills.

You stood in the middle of traffic with a microphone??

I want to say it's the gas bottle that was used in "Lost Planes", but I can't hear it thru my crappy player.

I was thinking of the explosive sound, like the crack of a gun going off.

So, hmmm, what could it be now?

    Well, I'm impressed!! You WIN!!

We first used the Calor Gas bottle as an instrument (weapon?) on 'Lost Planes' when they were still The Fix. Actually I think they may have been 'The Portraits' when they booked into Farmyard.

The studio was quite cold, and we had these heaters sitting around with the large butane gas bottles.

Somebody thought they made a nice loud bell-like sound, so we set about hitting them with various objects. The winner seemed to be the unscrewed leg of a mike-stand, a nice heavy metal object. We all retreated out of the recording area in case striking the gas bottle might result in a nasty explosion.......

So, well done!! From the original 'Lost Planes' hit, to the second verse of 'Follow That Cab'... DING!!!!

I shall have to dream up something more mysterious in the future.

Yay! I win the wingding prize! It wasn't such a wild guess. I thought I had heard something familiar on my hi-fi, even if I couldn't on my player here at my job. Now get back to work, deja!

edit: I'm such a liar. It was actually just a lucky guess.

WTG!!! I remember hearing about that somewhere before but would have never been able to pull that out. Are you gonna make any shows this time around?

    Hi Jeannie!

There was a thread entitled "Questions! The Fixx World Trivia Challenge" or something like that. I think Octopulse started it. I can't find it now. The gas bottle question was one of, if not the first, post in the thread.

On August 12, I'll be at Mayo Park in Rochester, MN to hear the Fixx. It's only about 70 miles from the World's Largest Six Pack. Can't wait.

Here you go, Jeannie and all. I found that trivia thread:

"Questions" - The Global Fixx Quiz

Wow! It was Musegirl who put forth the gas bottle question.
